How to make the perfect drive home for Christmas
In order to make the Christmas drive home extra special this year, there are several things you can do to elevate your experience. We asked members of the public about their annual drive home for the holidays, to gain insight into the driving habits people adopt on the all-important journey.
We spoke to Kosa, who lives in Crewe UK and travels all the way to Malaysia for the holidays. We also chatted to Charlotte, who lives in Manchester UK and travels to her family home in Nottingham over the Christmas period. Our team also spoke to Donna, who lives with her family in Nantwich UK, and travels to Granny M’s house in Essex to spend Christmas together.
We spoke to Kosa, who lives in Crewe UK and travels all the way to Malaysia for the holidays. How long does it take you to get home?
We asked those who travel home for Christmas how long the drive usually takes them. Those traveling longer journeys should be well-equipped with festive music, snacks, and fuel to get through the journey.
Kosa, who travels all the way home to Malaysia from Crewe, has the longest journey home than those we asked by far. As well as the long flight of around 13 hours (direct), Kosa also has a 3.5-hour drive ahead of her after landing! This takes her to her Grandma's home, where she’ll be spending Christmas with family.
Charlotte on the other hand, has a 2 hour drive from Manchester to Nottingham. To beat traffic and get home as quickly as possible, Charlotte likes to leave for her drive at the crack of dawn!

Everyone has their quirks when it comes to long drives home, Charlotte, for example, keeps a big blanket in the back of her car in case she gets cold. Kosa’s family on the other hand likes to throw out quiz questions to keep everybody engaged throughout the journey. And Donna brings an extra duvet and pillows to keep her children comfortable.
