Look up any list of the most interesting cities in Europe and you’re very likely to find Prague on it. Historic, scenic, and with an active cultural scene and nitelife, the capital of the Czech Republic has something for every visitor. These are five of its most interesting attractions:
- Prague Castle. A large and imperial palatial complex that’s more than 1,000 years old, Prague Castle is the symbol of the city. Consisting of high gates, ornate halls, and majestic cathedrals, it has been home to rulers from many kingdoms. Nowadays, the Castle gets almost two million visitors every year, numbers that would make many cities proud. Although it can get quite crowded, a visit is definitely worth it.
- Josefov. The former ghetto of Prague’s sizable and historically relevant Jewish community, Josefov is another place that offers an insight into the city’s past. Attractions include six synagogues of different ages and styles, Jewish Town Hall, and the extensive Jewish Museum of Prague.
- National Museum. Not a single museum, but rather a set of buildings and institutions located at different locations in Central Prague, the National Museum will quench the curiousity of any traveler. Highlights include the Main Building at Wenceslas Square, the New Building, Naprstek Museum of Anthropology, and the Lapidarium.
- Charles Bridge. A medieval stone bridge that crosses the Vitava River near the Old Town of Prague, Charles Bridge is close to 600 years old and is stunningly beautiful with 30 mostly Baroque statues and statuaries situated on the balustrade.
- Old Town Square. A silent witness to the city’s fascinating and sometimes turbulent history, and its beating heart to this day, the Old Town Square simply must be visited by every tourist in Prague at least once. Home to a number of famous churches and other buildings and landmarks that include the fascinating Jan Hus Memorial, the square has itself been recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
- Speculum Alchemiae. The speculative, gold-seeking practice of alchemy was all the rage in Europe for centuries, and Prague was one of its centers. Located in an appropriately cavernous heritage building in Josefov, this museum explains the history of alchemy, the involvement of local kings, and even the connections between alchemy and the legend of golems, beings made of clay that also has its roots in Prague.

Driving in Czechia was lovely, although a little faster than we are used to with LA traffic. Some of our side trips off the main highway took us through beautiful rural countryside and picturesque villages. The condition of even backroads were terrific. It Poland it was a little bit the opposite. There was still beautiful countryside and more forests but the roads off the main highway were not very good overall. It was also much, much slower—in Czechia you were rarely below 80km/hr, in Poland you were rarely above it LOL.

We visited the region around Kutna Hora and Kolin, went on nice hikes in nature and stayed in a beautiful village hotel. Getting around was easy in the car, and made the trip much easier. Highly recommend visiting Kutna Hora, which is a stunningly beautiful town with a rich history.

I drove from Prague to Dresden Germany and somehow the GPS instead of taking us through the E55 to Dresden it took us through side roads till we figure out how to get to the E55 .me and my wife we're using both Google GPS on our personal phones and somehow on both of our phones the GPS took us through side roads and small towns instead direct to the E55 fastway to Dresden. the same thing was on the way back to Prague and again we figured out how to get back to the E55. not sure why that Google GPS took us to side roads but as a tourist you should be aware of it . So plan your traveling/driving a had of time

All conditions are clear and transparent. I received a new car (only 4000km) in a good set. And car was clean.
After returning a car there were no issues and additional payments. Deposit returned in one week. Next time I'll need a car, I'll go firstly to this company.

Overall the Carwitz is a great company, new cars, reasonable price. I would definitely recommend. Just one little thing. If you rent a car at the Prague's airport, go directly to the building where the Marriott hotel is placed. Not to the building with a big "Rent Car" sign on it.

I visit Prague often and have apt with parking space. I always rent and have rented last 3 times from this group -- always excellent and get new Fabia Combi (or Octavia) for great price in great shape.....If visiting Prague only get a car if you plan on several trips out of town to Krumlov, Dresden, Moravia, Karlovy Vary etc -- otherwise use the excellent inexpensive public transport. I use the vehicle for moving family, pickup furniture and large grocery orders, taking bikes out to the country etc. If you are tourist 90% in Prague you do not need/want a car! but I always do, and Discover/Rent+/Nucar have been excellent.
