Ace Rent a car at Keflavik Airport

Pros: Friendly and helpful staff. Good quality car. Easy pick up and drop off to airport. Petrol stations didn’t accept my card payment to fill up car, representative told me where I could find a garage open (early hours of morning) to save money on service fee for half tank. Very thoughtful and didn’t have to advise. Thanks for the thoughtfulness, much appreciated.

Pros: ACE Rent A Car picked me up at KEF Airport and drove us 5-10 minutes to their site. Upon arrival, it only took 10-15 minutes to complete paperwork, select optional insurance, and get the keys to the rental car. Something I really liked about my experience with Ace was that I received a mobile Wi-Fi hotspot with my car rental and I was able to use that device to navigate in Iceland and stay connected via my mobile phone.

I was super uncomfortable going with him, and as I called the office to confirm, he also called his office, and said we didn't want to come, and walked away before I could complete my call to confirm. We then had to wait for another driver. This was the ONLY company who did not greet their customers nicely in the airport and did NOT confirm that they were picking up the right person. Horrible.

I was scrutinised upon return, ironically by the same gent who picked us up from the airport. It felt like they were waiting for a new scratch or damage to charge extortionate amounts to fix the overall condition of the car. Never experienced this in Iceland and I have been over 8 times.

It is a shuttle that takes you to and from and it is a 5 ish minute drive so if they just left - it will be 15 ish minutes until you’re at the airport so budget for that time.

Then they charged me 105,000 Iceland Krona to repair it. Representatives at discovercars.com do not answer specific questions about the claim process which makes it very difficult to proceed. I fear that I'll lose the money even though I bought Full Coverage Insurance.

Cons: The gear was broken at the forth day. I made phone call but Ace told me how to drive. I stocked in the front of tunnel and blocked the road. Luckily, 2 people pushed my car to side way, 1 nice man helped me to fixed the gear but I only can drive with gear D and N all the way from South to East. After I arrived me stay place, I contacted Ace again and had to explained again and again... finally, ace sent a local repairer who came to check and fixed the gear shift.

They shifted the responsibility to each other, and I was not given the right under the contract to be able to change the dates 24 hours before picking up the car. I am extremely dissatisfied and will not recommend them.

We were seen quickly but given a far from new Subaru Forester which, on first sight looked tatty - numerous dents in the bodywork (nothing major) and it hadn't been washed. The car had 78,000 kilometres on the clock - the highest I have ever seen on a hire vehicle in over 40 years of renting in lots of countries. Car did perform OK though.

Cons: Agent is slow and refuse to pick up at the airport because he did not understand what I was saying.

Pros: airport collection

Cons: Car was a wreck, got passed from booking office and collection point and back again

Pros: The staff at the reception were helpful and pleasant. The car worked great during the trip

Cons: Shuttle to get car and then long wait to pick up car. Difficult to find location for drop off and then the representative found a crack in the front bottom of car and small dent on front hood totally stressing us out at the end of an amazing vacation. I recommend that when picking up car, you should walk around the car with the client and show where the x damage marked on the form is on the car so that there can't be confusion of how damage occurred upon returning the car.

Pros: The rental was a clean and practically brand new Mazda CX-5, which was as advertised if not better.

Cons: Getting to the rental counter required finding the right shuttle driver holding a sign at the airport which was pretty chaotic during busy tourist season. Once we were picked up and shuttled to the actual location, had to wait close to 45 minutes in line at the counter because they were slammed and only had three people working the counters. Waiting area was jam packed and no seating. A little frustrating specially after a long flight. Service upon reaching the counter was fine and professional.

Cons: The pick up at the airport was very disorganized and slow. We waited for almost an hour and then were dropped off at the wrong rental place and then had to walk over to Ace.

Pros: Quick and easy drop off inspection. Also offered coffee while you wait for pick up and drop off shuttle.

Cons: First, there was no singage for ACE rent a car at the airport. Secondly, airport staff was unsure where you should wait for ACE representatives. We were lucky enough to see someone wearing an ACE jacket and told us where we could wait. Overall, the pick up process took an extremely long time.
