Pros: The queue was short. The process was smooth. The car was waiting for us to collect. The checkout was thorough and captured any existing damage clearly and transparently. The car was clean and modern (VW Tiguan). The return check in was quick as well, a quick survey to check for any additional damage (there was none) and we were off. Would recommend.

Cons: Although I'd pre-registered with Alamo, the hire was delivered by Locautorent, which meant I had to go through the process again. However it was quick despite the usual insurance up-sell.

Pros: The rental agent is the rental desk was lovely and very clear with the service. She even switched to talk Spanish with me, which felt as a nice gest.

Cons: The man handing me over the car was not kind at all. He was not polite, not patient and He got angry because I was carefully reviewing the car before I signed off the check. He said at the end: "We are going to make a very exhaustive check as well when you return the car". You make your own conclusions, but it certainly did not feel nice to hear that in the tone he said it.

Pros: Efficient collection and drop off with friendly professional staff who were thorough in taking us around to inspect the car at collection. Also a lower holding deposit which was good.

Cons: It took us a while to get to the rental desk, but this was down to the Pisa airport shuttle and not Alamo. We were also given a different car than advetised, I could have chosen the car we were given and paid less, but we chose a slightly larger car that we didn't receive.

Cons: They actually have a small ruler to measure scratches on the car and explain in great detail how you have to pay if a scratch is more than 50mm long!! How scary is that when you pick up the car?? Then they try and get you to take out roadside recovery at €3:50 a day, the cars are brand new!!! Ffs

Rate includes
Free cancellation with a full refund up to 48 hours before your pick-up time, Unlimited mileage, Collision Damage Waiver (deductible: € 1200.00), Theft Protection, Airport surcharge, Third Party Liability (TPL), Road tax, VAT (value added tax), Free modifications.
Mileage policy
For rentals of 28 days or more, mileage is limited to 117 km per day.
Driver requirements
Minimum rental age is 19 years.
A young driver fee applies to drivers under the age of 25.

There is no maximum age.
A Senior driver fee is not applied.

The driver license must have been issued by authorized authorities at least 1 year(s) before the date of the commencement of the rental.

The driver license must be written in Latin alphabet.
A driver license printed using a non-Roman alphabet (Arabic, Japanese, Cyrillic, etc) must be supplemented by an International Driving Permit.
In addition to the regular driver license, an International Driving Permit is also mandatory if the customer is not a resident of the following country(ies): United Kingdom, EU countries.
Please note that the International Driving Permit is valid only if accompanied by the regular driver license.
For driver licenses from countries not party to the International Driving Permit treaty, an official translation of the license must be presented with the original license.

In addition to documents mentioned previously, the customer will need the following: valid driver license, credit or debit card on a main driver's name, Passport or ID card, booking voucher, additional ID showing home address (e.g. Utility bill), photocard driving license.
Deposit and deductible policy
A deposit will be blocked on the customer's credit card and will be released within 30 days after drop-off.
The exact deposit is determined on pick up since the amount is dependent on the type of vehicle.
Cross-border policy
Cross border rentals are allowed only upon previous request.

Crossing country borders to Norway, Switzerland, United Kingdom, EU countries is free of charge.

In the event that Cross Border & Territorial Restrictions are violated, all protections lose their validity.
Optional extras and services
Available special equipment: GPS Navigation system, Child seat (2-4 years of age).
Prices for extras are shown on the booking page.


During winter season (from 15.11 until 15.04.) Snow chains are included in price.
All extras are available at the rental counter. Prices vary, depending on the rental period.

Fuel policy
The vehicle is provided with a full tank of fuel and must be returned with the same amount in order to avoid additional charges.
Additional information
By law, winter tires are mandatory on all roads from 15.10 to 15.04 in the following regions: Aoasta-Valley.
By law, winter tires are mandatory on all roads from 15.11 to 15.04 in the following regions: South Tyrol.
Snow chains are recommended in icy/snowy conditions, especially when traveling in mountainous areas.
Business hours
Service outside of business hours is available by request and for an additional charge.
In order to have service out of hours, the renter must provide the following information: Flight number, train number.
A maximum of 59 minutes is available for service outside of business hours.

Period of time, during regular working hours, when the car is still guaranteed for the customer, if the customer is late for pick up (the grace period) is 59 minutes.
