AmiGO Rent a Car at Liberia Airport

Cons: The car we got initially wasn't in very good condition. But we got a very good replacement when we drive it back.

Cons: 20 minute wait outside of airport for shuttle

Cons: Terrible service. I tried 2 different times to talk to an agent in person at the Tamarindo office and there was no one there both times. My gps was in Dutch and I couldn’t navigate thru settings to change to English. Went to office for help . No one there and I was charged $550 for a system I was never able to use. I had a problem with tve driver door key . It wouldn’t lock. I we t to office ( drive an hour) . Sign in door “be back soon”. There was no parking/ I had a surfboard couldn’t park far

Pros: All representatives were very friendly and efficient

Cons: The car wasn’t put together very well at pickup, the trunk bed area is extremely noisy

Cons: Horrible rental experience. Had to stand out in the heat for 30 minutes before someone came to pick us up from the airport to the rental. Then took over an hour to rent the car even though it was empty. They charged us $200 extra fee for the car. They falsely marked there was a full tank of gas when there was only 3/4 and then when I brought it back at 7/8 they charged me $13. Horrible rental service would not recommend to anyone ever.

Pros: All the staff were courteous and knowledgeable. The shuttle was waiting for us both ends of our rental to get us from and back to the airport.

Cons: The interior of the vehicle appeared dusty and a bit beaten up when we got it. After driving in Costa Rica though I perhaps have a better understanding of why.

Pros: The agent was very pleasant but the paperwork took way too long.

Cons: The car had no cover for the boot area even though there should be. This was disappointing as we wanted to leave luggage in the car but because there was no cover the luggage was clearly in show and therefore unsafe. When we returned the car it was checked and the agent literally checked under the car and said there was damage there that wasn’t when we first received the car. As this was under the car it was an area we never checked and therefore we have no idea if this was already there.

Pros: Friendly, helpful representatives, great car for a vacation (we rented a Toyota Yaris), easy process, we were very pleased with our overall experience.

Pros: It was easy to pick up and drop off

Cons: That there is always hidden fees for extra insurance that is not mention at time of booking online even though you already have your own insurance that covers car rentals

Pros: Once we found the representative, it was very fast, smooth and easy

Pros: The auto was ready as promised and what we expected. The pick up was easy and thorough

Cons: Karen in the Liberia office made sure to explain everything about the rental and process carefully so we knew what to expect. She was professional, clear, efficient, and friendly.

Pros: Initially all went easy and great!

Cons: They gave me a car with a half empty tank and the guy said bring back somewhat the same. I brought it back with slightly less than half and they then charged me a full tank of USD 50. This is not how it works and not client-oriented at all. Totally negative experience at the end....

Pros: The staff were fantastic to deal with and dropping off the car took very little time.

Cons: When we were picking up our car it took about an hour as there was one group in front of us and only one service agent.

Cons: There were 2 locations in San José to drop off the car. We went to the wrong one first but one of the employees said it’s fine. 10 minutes later another employee came and told us we had to drive to the other location. Although the initial issue was our fault, the time of ours they wasn’t meant we missed out bus.

Cons: Didn't get the car that I originally reserved. It was a downgrade for the same price. After exchanging the first car for a AWD one (as originally planned), the new car was still inferior to the one we originally reserved. We ended up having several issues with the car during part of our trip. We ended up changing the car for a second time for a stronger car that the one we originally reserved and paid an extra fee for that, even if we add problems with the cars, didnt get the right one first...

Cons: Totally false information provided by online booking info. Received lower rated car after paying for intermediate car

Cons: The GPS (SatNav) we hired did not work properly , yet we were still charged for it.

Pros: Rental car was not available when we arrived due to a delay and Discover would not reimburse the booking fee. This was an awful experience and would never recommend or use your service again

Pros: What you want your car rental experience to be is predictable. And these guys are. No surprise mandatory charges, no sudden price increase, no scaring, no manipulation into buying expensive add-ons - just friendly, smiling professional, predictable service. Thank you!

Cons: Car did the trick over a thousand miles in 7 days over some difficult terrain to say the least.

Pros: There were two people working at the Amigo, the gentleman at the counter was at least understanding about the situation and drove us to another rental company

Cons: The woman working at the AmiGo practically laughed at us and was not friendly or helpful.
