Pros: all worked well, car was very clean, low mileage and well prepared.

Cons: Nothing really, Only one comment regarding the office opening times, Discover cars show opening times only to 17:00, but Autounion website says 20:30 at Malta airport. I confirmed this with Autounion as our flight was arriving after 17:00. 08:30 - 20:30 is correct office opening time at the Airport. Outside of these times there may be a 35Euro pickup charge

Cons: The car offered by AutoUnion had an issue with the fuel level indicator. When I picked up the car the indicator showed about 7.5/8. The agent said that it is full and that I should not worry. Before returning the car, I filled the fuel tank until automatic stop of the fuel pump, but then the fuel level indicator only showed about 7/8. I brought this to the agent's attention at drop off, but still got charged for not returning the car with full tank.

Cons: They scammed me afterwards, charging my credit card for damage already there. I filled 2 police reports for fraud. Auto Union does not reply but simply charges my credit card. Since I have clear and dated pictures of the car before and after my rental, and they send me an old, edit and not dated picture of the car without any scratches, they know they're wrong and purposely mischievous and fraudulent. They are messing with people and I will take this high up until they correct and apologise.

Pros: quick pick up and able to get the car at 2am

Cons: The first car was a lemon. Next morning the battery went flat and we took it back. The AA guy looked under the bonnet and said this car was dangerous. We took it back and got another, even older one (CD player in car!) with lots of dents. The first gear and brakes failed when we drove up the ferry ramp and without the handbrake we would have crashed into the car behind us. We were charged the full amount for a dent we didn't knowingly make but all previous dents were never fixed!

Pros: I liked the easy way to find office, picku up and drop off the cars. Full to full tank is great too. Staff were very helpfull.

Cons: The tire preassure was low, so we had to deal with it. Also not all the scratches were in protocol, but we made pictures and send them to office. We could smell a smoke inside, but that was gone in 2days. I do not like, that is takes 3weeks to get back deposit blocation on my credit card...

Rate excludes
The following surcharges may apply: Premium Location surcharge, Concession fee.
Driver requirements
Minimum rental age is 21 years.
A young driver fee applies to drivers under the age of 25.

Maximum rental age is 75 years.
A senior driver fee applies to drivers over the age of 70.

The driver license must have been issued by authorized authorities at least 2 year(s) before the date of the commencement of the rental.

Driver licenses will be accepted if issued in the following country(ies): United Kingdom, EU countries.
Otherwise, the renter must provide an International Driver Permit (IDP).
A driver license printed using a non-Roman alphabet (Arabic, Japanese, Cyrillic, etc) must be supplemented by an International Driving Permit.
Please note that the International Driving Permit is valid only if accompanied by the regular driver license.

In addition to documents mentioned previously, the customer will need the following: passport, valid driver license, credit card on a main drivers name, booking voucher.
Deposit and deductible policy
A deposit will be blocked on the customer's credit card and will be released within 30 days after drop-off.
The exact deposit is determined on pick up since the amount is dependent on the type of vehicle.
Payment policy
At time of pick up, customers will be required to pay the amount of the rental and a deposit.
It is possible to pay and leave the deposit only with the following payment methods: MasterCard credit card, VISA credit card.
Only cards issued in the main driver's name are accepted.
The following payment methods are accepted: Prepaid cards, Visa Debit Card, MasterCard debit card.

Maestro, American Express, Cash, Diners is/are not accepted.

The main driver must provide a physical payment card in their name with enough funds to cover the deposit to pick up the car. The rental company will neither accept virtual credit cards (e.g., GooglePay or ApplePay) nor someone else’s card (including family members).
Cross-border policy
It is forbidden to cross country borders.
Optional extras and services
Available special equipment: GPS Navigation system, Baby seat (up to 1 year of age), Child seat (2-4 years of age), Booster seat (4-10 years of age).
Prices for extras are shown on the booking page.

Adding additional drivers is allowed.
There is an additional charge for each driver.
Underage additional drivers are subject to both Young Driver and Additional Driver fees.
Underage additional drivers are also subject to a young driver fee.
When picking up the vehicle, all drivers must be present and must provide valid documentation.

The first additional driver is allowed free of charge.
Certain additional drivers are subject to both an Additional Driver fee as well as either a Young Driver or Senior Driver fee.
Delivery/Collection service is available only by previous request.
Additional charges will be applied.
Fuel policy
The vehicle is provided with a full tank of fuel and must be returned with the same amount in order to avoid additional charges.
Additional information
Winter tires are not mandatory in Malta.
