Bargain Car Rentals at Brisbane Airport

Cons: The airport shuttle service left a lot to be desired. 20 minutes wait was a joke. There were 2 of us. High numbers of people waiting for transport from the airport to Bargain Cars meant that the main driver had to be taken in a shuttle first, with the passenger to supposedly follow in the next shuttle. The passenger finally got on the 4th shuttle that was sent after waiting for an hour. Also tred on one of the tyres was minimal. In NZ the car would not have passed a warrant of fitness.

Not the end of the world and would’ve been acceptable if I just knew about it upfrontexcept in this case, I spent 45 minutes screwing around

Cons: Every now and then warning lights would come on the dash. When rung them they said not to worry about it. Someone forgot to reset the screen. The cruise control didn't work on the car either. Try ring them and you can be on the phone for ages and would finally give up before they would ever answer. They have an option of call back but I got a call back 2 days later.

Pros: This is a legitimate company operating close to the airport with great prices on rentals.

Cons: Nothing against the rental company, just with the car model. I reserved a mid size SUV. The model was a MG. The car was clean and new, however while driving in Brisbane I encountered many hills/slopes. This model of car would hesitate and lack the drive power to start off on these hills. Once the car automatically switched to the next gear the power would kick in and the car worked accordingly. Again this is nothing toward the company and strictly toward the car model.

The right rear tyre was found low pressure when we were on the way to join a wedding party, spent some time to fill up, almost missed the start of the wedding ceremony which was the main purpose for the trip.

Cons: There was a few things about the car that we believe needs attention: The headlights seem to be in need of adjusting as they were not that helpful at night. The remote lock/unlock did not work all the time near the end of trip and so we think the batteries need changing. The ignition was not working as well as it could be and may need some attention. It was often sticking for us.

Pros: After a breakdown they did send a mechanic fairly quickly as well as a tow truck after it was determined the car was not roadworthy.

Cons: At the time of booking, it indicated that we would receive a Hyundai or equivalent. Turned out we were given an MG which ran really rough and ultimately broke down. After I called Bargain Cars to report that the car was running very roughly, I was told that this is normal and there was no alternative vehicle available. It was only after it broke down that they found an alternative car for me.

Staff didn’t know where cars were supposed to be returned, asked us to queue up (when there was a long queue for people picking up cars) to return the keys but after a long wait just said we could pass the keys to them and that was it. Wasted time queueing for nothing if they could have taken the keys straightaway upon return.

Pros: I tried to cancel my booking - and never actually hired the car and didn’t cancel in time by the time I got a response - I was directed to the third party website I’d booked through and I was told I was under the 48hr period. So I had was 3 days trying to get through - got nothing refunded and no credit. Not happy - will use a more well known company in future.

Cons: It took us over an hour to be collected by staff to get the car and then we had to wait about an hour at the rental office before getting the keys, so a total of 2 hours which isn't really acceptable. There was not enough staff or buses to match the demand of people booked at that time. People pushed in front as there was no system, it was very poorly managed and organised. We had to call up and ask about something and it turns out we were given the wrong vehicle also!

Cons: The insurance is convoluted and not clear and very expensive. Especially when I rent the car indirectly from Bargain. A comprehensive insurance should be embedded into the rental price so the experience would be more relaxed and smooth.

We waited for about 45 min for the shuttle and the driver offered no help - told us to load the cases into the already full boot. The return driver was much better as he loaded one of our two cases

Pros: The personnwho attended us was very rude and lack customer service. He was fine at first bu when the scenario changed, his mood just went downhill. Even rolling his eyes and sighing. That is his job, and his job is to make sure clients get a SAFE and CLEAN car from the start! It is very disappointing!

Cons: Check in was so slow on the Saturday morning and during drop off I asked if the shuttle could drop me off at the IBIS Brisbane airport instead of the domestic airport stop and 3 agents said no, then drove right past it. Literally went through a round about next to the IBIS. I had two kids and the walk was fine however, we drove right past it? Top Service would have simply dropped me and my kids off.

Cons: Pickup information said turn left at Brisbane Intl airport when exiting and go to area 3. There was no numbered area 3 where we got picked up. Waited long time at rental company. Car was dirty. Problem fixed by Manager. Had issue with Agent outides but Manager fixed this issue.

Pros: Cheap rentals - I wanted to extend it for another day but it was booked out. I then booked from budget/AVIS for a one day rental and was charged close to $300AUD for only 69kmm used, so very happy with Bargain Rentals prices

Cons: Micheal, the agent I worked with, was absolutely horrible. Rude and unsympathetic. I missed the shuttle bus because he had neglected to unlock the gate so I could return my car. When I brought this up, he completely dismissed me. Horrible service. I'll say the overall process for pickup and drop off was not smooth. When you are in a foreign country trying to catch a flight, it is really important that this go smoothly.

Unable to contact anyone from the company, nor did the company follow up with me before closing if I was still collecting Carr and what was put in place for me to collect it when I land I had to pay for a night in a hotel with my family after spending two hours on the phone, trying to get hold of somebody. Once I got hold off somebody from Discover cars, they were extremely rude and condescending.

Cons: Had not driven an mg car prior to rental, and did not realise what to expect to be honest ,it was a bit under powered in low gears.I would have preffered a more powerful car, however it did get us from point A to B .we travelled to the glass house mountains which certainly pushed the car to its limits. It did get us there though.

Cons: The car I received was on its last job, it had done over 125000km the radio didn’t work, the car had a lot of bodywork damage including scrapes and paint missing but they told me that’s all they had unless I wanted to upgrade. I had already booked a level up from compact to intermediate to ensure I got something better than the worst. This didn’t seem to matter. They also wanted to charge me an extra $3 for each toll. Luckily I signed up to the local toll company to pay direct, this saved £.

Pros: one of customers service agent, was kindly enough to see us thru 2 cars before we settled for the 3rd car.

Cons: 1st and 2nd customer service agent was not helpful, they walk away saying, an agent will attend to me and drove off. 1st agent left for lunch and 2nd agent set off on the passenger bus. On both occasions, they were not stepping forward to assist. The experience with them was very disappointing. We booked for a Toyota corolla or similar and we ended up with a Hyundai Accent Sport. Will be good to indicate the type of similar range of cars for the cost paid.
