Pros: We did not get the car originally booked!! Got a horrible Hyundai Getz… paint was peeling off Bonnet, then it broke down, it was a hell of a problem getting the break down guy to take it as the AA membership had expired in 2021, then we were asked if we would be able to drive it back to Christchurch 🤷‍♀️seriously after explaining to the manager at Budget rental cars what was wrong! We lost an entire day, we were not even offered compensation for the loss!!

Cons: Will avoid them at all costs sorry

Cons: Overall age and condition of vehicle. Delay in refunding $250 deposit which has still not come through 4 days after car was returned.

Pros: I think the price overall is affordable and they don't ask for a lot of deposit.

Cons: The body condition of the car is bad. Luckily the engine is ok. I am not impressed with the representative. He is very reluctant to share any information when asked. I would have appreciate some answers. Not a very helpful individual. Also, as someone who is on 1st visit to NZ, I would have appreciated some advice about the engine size. I didn't know I had to climb mountains, I would have gotten a car with a bigger engine size. Luckily, I was safe.

Pros: The car was ready at the pick up time and any paperwork required had been done. The guy in the office was friendly and took me around the car to show me any previous damage . There was nothing said about the controls in the car and that the handbrake was a third pedal .

Cons: The vehicle advertised wa not the vehicle I received as this was a 2008 vehicle that looked rather scruffy inside and out. The car mats were very dirty as were the seats and tape had been used to cover a rip in the storage compartment between the front seats. There was no manual in the glove compartment.

Pros: Car was cheap . It was an older car with lots od dents but it ran reliably so we didn't mind.

Cons: Insurance charged,, but car pick place had compulsory zero insurance also. Luckily they were aware of this "trap" so promised to reimburse us their premium after the trip. But one wonders what would have happened if we'd had an accident - two full premiums not reimbursed?

Free cancellation with a full refund up to 48 hours before your pick-up time, Unlimited mileage, Collision Damage Waiver (deductible: ~€ 1535.00), Theft Protection, Roadside Assistance (in the country of pick-up), Third Party Liability (TPL), Free modifications, State Tax.
Driver requirements
Minimum rental age is 21 years.
A young driver fee applies to drivers under the age of 25.

Maximum rental age is 80 years.
A Senior driver fee is not applied.

The driver license must have been issued by authorized authorities at least 1 year(s) before the date of the commencement of the rental.

In addition to the regular driver license, an International Driving Permit is also mandatory if the national driver license is not written in English.
Please note that the International Driving Permit is valid only if accompanied by the regular driver license.

In addition to documents mentioned previously, the customer will need the following: passport, valid driver license, credit card on a main drivers name, booking voucher, flight information.
Deposit and deductible policy
A deposit will be blocked on the customer's credit card and will be released within 30 days after drop-off. The deposit is taken at the start of the rental, to cover any additional charges incurred during the rental.
Optional extras and services
Available special equipment: GPS Navigation system, Baby seat (up to 1 year of age), Child seat (2-4 years of age), Booster seat (4-10 years of age).

Additional drivers are allowed free of charge.
Delivery/collection service is not provided.
Fuel policy
The vehicle is provided with a full tank of fuel and must be returned with the same amount in order to avoid additional charges.
Business hours
Period of time, during regular working hours, when the car is still guaranteed for the customer, if the customer is late for pick up (the grace period) is 180 minutes.
