Buchbinder
As perhaps suggested by its name, Buchbinder is primarily focused on the German-speaking market of Europe, having a strong presence in Germany and Austria. It also offers rental cars in countries such as Slovakia and Hungary. In addition to various economy and regular-sized cars, the company also offers trucks and vans for rent.
Buchbinder was founded over 60 years ago and was one of the largest car rental companies in Germany prior to its acquisition by Europcar Group in 2017. The large conglomerate acquired the company to strengthen its position in the German rental market and compete with the likes of Sixt.
Before the sale, the company had more than 150 locations which included 18 at major airports including Hamburg, Munich, Frankfurt, and Stuttgart Airports in Germany; Vienna and Salzburg Airports in Austria, Bratislava Airport in Slovakia, and Budapest Airport in Hungary. It continues to operate at most of the locations independent of Europcar.
