Cargini
Cargini is a Greek car rental company that seeks to provide an innovative car rental service (thus the name of the company). The company first started in the ever-popular tourist destination that is Greece. It has since expanded to have corporate offices and franchises in Albania (at Tirana Airport), Malta (at Malta Luqa Airport), Serbia, Turkey (at Antalya Airport), and Zanzibar. While most of the company’s locations are at (or near) airports, it also serves Paros Port. On the island of Paros, travelers are likely to arrive via ferry from other islands in the Cyclades.
Cargini’s goal to provide a car rental experience that exceeds its customers’ expectations is accomplished by a simple booking system, having a fleet of high-quality vehicles for renters to choose from, and innovative solutions like online check-in — you can provide your driver's license information in advance to speed up the pick-up process.
One of the largest problems many travelers encounter when renting a car is the requirement to have a credit card to leave the security deposit. Many travelers don’t have a credit card and need to use a debit card instead. While there used to be no options for this, many rental companies now accept debit cards. Cargini is one of them (in most of their locations). So if you’re looking to rent a car in Greece, Serbia, or Zanzibar and you only have a debit card, Cargini is an excellent choice to rent from. While Cargini will accept a debit card for payment in Malta, it requires a credit card in order to be able to leave the deposit. Also, remember that the card you use must be the same as the main driver listed on the rental contract — you can’t use someone else’s card.
Cargini’s fleet includes high-quality newer cars. The company, however, focuses on serving vacationers in most locations. It, therefore, has a fleet that caters to most leisure travelers. This includes smaller cars (like economy and mini classes), larger cars, SUVs, and some vans. The company doesn’t have special cars like luxury cars, convertibles, or trucks in its fleet, but in the locations it serves, these aren’t in high demand. If visiting the Greek Islands (including Crete), you’ll likely want a small car anyway to be able to navigate the small streets and find places to park.
With Cargini, you aren’t allowed to travel to another country with the vehicle, only within the country in which you picked it up. One-way rentals are possible in Greece, though. When renting a car through Cargini in Greece, you may be allowed to take it on a ferry. You need to inform the company about your plans in advance to get permission and are likely to be charged an additional fee for this.
Finally, most, but not all, of Cargini’s locations are at airports. However, their locations are usually located outside of the airport. The company, however, will meet you at the airport or provide a free shuttle service to their office — all of which are located only a few minutes from the airport.
Cargini won our Excellent Service Award in 2024 for its location at Athens Airport. It is also highly rated at Corfu Airport and Thessaloniki Airport.
