Pros: Dollar did not really provide any service at all. Everything referred to Hertz.

Cons: Went to the Dollar service desk to pick up the car, then had to go to the Hertz lot to pick up the car. Car was not functional so had to go back into Hertz to get a new car. On return, was directed to the Dollar return area at JFK. Dollar agent informed me that I needed to return the car to Hertz, so had to exit and go over to Hertz to return the car. This car had problems and had to exchange for two more before getting a working vehicle. Had to make an extra stop 2 hours out of our way.

Cons: Firstly the office was tiny, the representative was rude and unhelpful, they only had one car left, access in and out of the rental car lot was awful, nobody seemed to care, not interested in all the scratches all over the car, didn't explain to us how to use the toll roads monitor operated at all (but were more than happy to take our money) ... incidentally if there are penalties issued by NYC Highways I will have to too dispute this?? On return the Dollar Lot was closed due to construction!

Pros: The first agent whom I dealt with was really nice and helpful, then I was send to the outside office to fetch the car. I was directed to a parking space which had no car, so I asked if I could have the one in the adjacent slot. I was told yes. It was a Kia Soul, a type of car which I have never driven, and I was very pleased with it once I realized that I could disengage the lane control system. Before turning it off, the car seemed unmanageable. The car was roomy & with very comfortable seats.

Cons: Returning the car to Dollar was the worst car rental return which I have experienced. One employee seemed to be trying to do everything. There were at least ten people outside waiting to fetch cars and several returning them. The wait was way too long.

Rate includes
Unlimited mileage, Loss Damage Waiver (with zero deductible), Supplemental Liability Insurance (SLI), Airport surcharge, Vehicle registration fee, Free modifications, Customer Facility Charge (CFC), State Tax, Surcharges.
Driver requirements
Minimum rental age is 18 years.
A young driver fee applies to drivers under the age of 25.

There is no maximum age.
A Senior driver fee is not applied.

The driver license must have been issued by authorized authorities at least 1 year(s) before the date of the commencement of the rental.

In addition to the regular driver license, an International Driving Permit is also mandatory if the national driver license is not written in English.
Please note that the International Driving Permit is valid only if accompanied by the regular driver license.

In order to pick up the car, the renter and each additional driver must present the following documents: passport, valid driver license, credit card on a main drivers name, booking voucher.
Deposit and deductible policy
A deposit will be held on the customer's credit card.
At the time of pick up customers will be required to pay the amount of the rental and a deposit.

Delivery/collection service is not provided.
Fuel policy
The vehicle is provided with a full tank of fuel and must be returned with the same amount in order to avoid additional charges.
Alternatively, for rates that include Fuel Purchase Option the first tank of gas is included. Customers do not have to refuel the vehicle prior to return.
Rental period
The maximum rental period per agreement is 62 days.
If the renter would like to extend the rental period, renter should return to the car hire office at the end of the rental period to sign a new agreement.
Business hours
Service outside of business hours is available by request and for an additional charge.

Period of time, during regular working hours, when the car is still guaranteed for the customer, if the customer is late for pick up (the grace period) is 29 minutes.
