Europcar
A French company that celebrated its 70th birthday in 2019, Europcar is one of the biggest players in the global car rental market. The company’s original name was The Automobile Subscription, and it became Europcar a few years later. At different times of its existence, it has been owned by Renault, Volkswagen, and Eurazeo, and in 2021 it was acquired by Green Mobility Holding, a consortium owned by the Volkswagen Group, Attestor, and Pon Holdings. Over the years, Europcar has itself acquired a number of competing car rental companies. The company’s founder was Raoul-Louis Mattei and its current chairwoman and CEO is Caroline Parot. The company’s headquarters is in Paris and its main business park can be found in the surrounding Île-de-France region.
Nowadays, Europcar operates in around 140 different countries around the world. It is also one of the top three biggest partners of DiscoverCars.com, partnering with our company in more than 2,000 different locations, with an especially high number of locations in Australia, Chile, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Portugal, Switzerland, the United Kingdom, and a number of US states. DiscoverCars.com users have a favorable view of Europcar, giving especially high marks for the cleanliness of the company’s car, time spent dropping off the car, and the overall technical condition of Europcar’s vehicles.
The company won our 2024 Excellent Service Award in the following locations: Madrid and Malaga Airports in Spain; Geneva and Zurich Airports in Switzerland; Antalya, Istanbul Sabiha Gokcen, and Izmir Airports in Turkey (thanks to its franchisee in the country); and Abu Dhabi Airport in the UAE.
