Funchal Drive rent a Car at Ponta Delgada Airport

Pros: I wish more car rental company’s would have a fast and efficient pick up like your company. Very happy with the service

Pros: Everything was good except for dropping the car off.

Cons: After we checked the car in, we waited by the car for 15 minutes while the driver talked on the phone and completely ignored us. He then proceeded to talk on the phone the entire way to the airport, never saying a word to us. Not a great way to treat the customer.

Pros: The office is near the airport, staff is nice and helpful. The condition of the car was excellent.

Cons: The security deposit was hight (2 500 EUR) and it was released from my credit card a week after returning the car so the funds were blocked on my card for a week for no reason. In other renting company (ANC) that I used on Sao Miguel island the deposit was released immediately after returning the car and they even gave me confirmation of the deposit cancellation.

Cons: Representatives were very blunt, rude and not accomodating. I wouldn't recommend this company to anyone.

Pros: The representatives were very nice and friendly. The pickup and drop off service to the airport was quick!

Cons: We rented a car with Funchal Drive in Ponta Delgada through discovercars for 5 days. We took out all-risk insurance with zero excess directly with the agency and paid with our credit card. Unfortunately we had an accident on the penultimate day of our holiday and the car had to be towed away. Not only did they refuse to give us a new car, they didn't refund us for the day we didn't use. Even worse was they tooking 1700€ from us to supposedly pay for the towing and the repair of the car!

Pros: The car was clean. Dropping the car off went quick and they were vertel helpfull

Cons: The woman who was helping me at the pickup was awfull! She had a bad that day, thats for sure. She wasnt polite and talked too quick in very bad english and gave me the feeling that I was some kind of lunatic who couldn’t understand her.

Pros: Everything went well, the service getting from the airport directly to the car is super.

Cons: The service is perfect, only not booking but charging the deposit from credit card is not understandable to me, experience travelling all over the world is different- the rental companies book the deposit, not charge it directly, this is the reason fór having a credit card, charged you might be from the deposit one.

Cons: The own risk reservation on my creditcard is still not released after multiple days despite having confirmation of no damage.

Cons: We were charged for picking up car 2 hours early. Who does that?! Total of about $75. Then upon return we were charged $250 for a very small scratch on the lowest portion of the black vinyl front bumper which they very likely ignore, or fix themselves with a brief swipe of a piece of sandpaper

Cons: Full coverage by discovery cars but still 2500 euro blocket on credit card by the agent, in case off accident need to reclaim money at discovery cars. Gives unnecessary stress. Better to have the insurance direct at the agent.

Pros: Pros: I had to file a claim for a scratch (eur292.50) and the process was quite straightforward and quick, though I had to pay the 292.50eur up front and then claim it back.

Cons: Cons: I booked an SUV via Discover Cars, but when I got to Funchal Drive rental car, they only had hatchbacks. I asked for a discount given this and they refused. At bare minimum, they should give the appropriate discount in this situation. Though overall the provider and Discover Cars should ensure they have the stock at the time to fulfill the order they have committed to.

Cons: Finding Funchal Drive's shuttle was difficult; it was claimed to cone every 15-20 minutes, but we waited for 30 minutes without seeing it arrive, called the number given to confirm that another shuttle was on it's way, andnthen waited another 30 minutes without it arriving. We eventually had to take a taxi to the location.

Pros: Car was nice, it was within a reasonable range from the listed car, and they had the listed car in the park as well.

Cons: Additional charge of 270e on top of the amount paid online, even though I've paid for the full insurance package. And the fact that full to full policy, not implemented, we've received a half tank of gas and were told to return it the same, even though they had a full-to-full sticker on the car.

Pros: Helios tool the time to fix the mess his colleague made the night before.

Cons: Being lied to and making us wait for nothing as we had to call a family member to come and pick us up at the airport and bring us back the next morning. Wasting our holiday time.

Cons: I was issued a car that had a slow leak. I had to keep stopping to put air in the car. I was already 30 minutes away when I first noticed it. I kept putting air in it because I was to far out to return the car for a new one. I was only renting the car for 3 days and did not want to waste my time going back and forth to return a car. I thought once I topped off the air I would be good but it again went down by the end of the day.

Pros: it was very fast and very they were very helpful! They told us everything we needed to know and helped us where needed

Cons: The only remark is that it was quite difficult to find as the address sent to us was not the correct address but it is located quite a lot further in the street. Not anything to give a lesser score but still a remark.

Cons: Rening a car on the Azores is relatively expensive. Not the Funchal Drive's fault, because that's with every rental company on the Azores.

Cons: Being forced to pay with the same credit card as for the deposit, they didnt let me to use my debit EURO card. I was being threatened with having to pay some extra fees for their waiting (I was making transfers to pay with my credit as they wanted). All the time being given “amazing” opportunity to buy their insurance and then not having to pay the deposit. At the end, which I could have predicted, I was told I scratched the wheel rim. This scratches are visible on photos I did while renting…

Pros: What a great place to rent a car. Very friendly and quick service.great car and great price.

Pros: A new company that tries to force additional insurance on you (I booked additional coverage through DiscoverCars). If you don't accept they get pretty aggressive warning you that they will charge you a lot for any small scratch or even dirt they can find on the car. The car pickup is not at the airport. Dropping the car off was at the carpark with no check onsite, just leave the keys. I've checked the car thoroughly to make sure it was clean and without damage. Surprise: they charged me damage!

Pros: Nothing. We were defraud, and investigating in the web, we weren't the only ones.

Cons: We were charge about 300€ for a scratch we didn't do. The most surpraising fact is all the cars of the same category of us, had the same dent. It was under the car, and it was not visible. If you don't pay the insurance they offer to you, they charge for other aspects as this one. Good trick.

Cons: They where late for 1 hour and 30 min. We called them 5 times and every time they answered - we're sending shuttle for you...
