The communication between Discover cars and Goldcar was nonexistent. I got charged €32 when it was probably only €5 short of being a full tank on return, and €11 for a non existent scratch on a wheel trim. I was disappointed with the quality of service from the staff and felt that I was just being forced to sign documents that were not clear.

I recently had this with my private car in Belgium and the amount of reparation was much lower than the amount they do (+ 500,00 EUR) ... so I consider this an abuse - On my word I have not experienced the impact / I have nearly no milage with the car and I would have noticed an impact / impact is so small the staff needed to show it with a spotlight /could have existed already

Pros: The Car rental company was named Surprice on the email header then subsequently renamed to Goldcar on the voucher. This caused unnecessary delays as we ended up being driven into Lisbon to a company who had no car for us.

The company would not resolve the issue as we were not stranded, as the car would eventually start after 20 minutes or so.The boot catch was dangerously loose. The car Media system required an Authentication code after it failed to start the first time. (no radio or sat nav thereafter).

When I return the the car, I got an mysterious charge of 350 euro for a "check on rim" fee. My wife and I were very careful when we return the car, we video taped the condition of the car and did not notice any damages caused by us. Cons: I was literally threatened by the sales person when I told him I booked "with insurance" from your portal. He said "I don't care what Discover Car Hire said they sold you - there is no insurance. He coersed me to buy more insurance and I simply refused and then as I signed off nearl €1500 on my credit card assurance he said "I will personally make sure that if there is even teh smallest scratch on the car you will pay for it!" He said this with a grin on his face.

Cons: We spent over an hour waiting for our turn at the desk to pick up the car. I am accustomed to a kiosk and getting on my way quickly, but this was quite a delay. A few difficult guests in front of us took up a lot of time with several agents.

Pros: they were very near departure and arrival and pretty good system apart. The agent warned us that we would have damage taken from our deposit but said nothing about cleaning, really misleading.

Cons: extra charge for airport rental, computer malfunction leading to a 1 1/2 hour wait to get the car, extra charge because we had not vacuumed it before return, no interest in customer relations. it's a badly run company and i fell sorry for the employees

We had booked a "people mover" on the website because when we rented a car a couple of weeks earlier in Rome it was way too small in the back with the baby seat. The car we were assigned was tiny (I don't know how it could be called a "people mover") and it was absolutely filthy inside. My elderly parents were jammed in the back with the baby

Pros: The people at goldcar in lisbon were very friendly and nice. Everything was explained to me clearly.

Cons: I had to walk to the car to check for damage on the car, then go back to the desk to return the paper with my findings and then walk back to pick up the car.

Cons: We had to wait nearly an hour to pick up the car. My wife is disabled and walks with a stick and all of the seats were taken. I asked if there was a priority system for disabled clients and got told no. Maybe this is something that should be considered

I explained that there would be only 1 driver but the other person held the credit card & the transaction had gone through- They did not communicate the cost for the additional driver - I saw it walking away & questioned them.it felt devious. Normally a company would mention the extra cost when discussed
