Also the first car given was a dangerous car with all the warning lights was on and moreover the car was is in an overall bad condition. It’s a shame to give dangerous car to someone.

And the car made several alerts on oil pressure and other things (in French so didn’t understand)

Cons: The. Car, Opel Corsa, had 78000 km on the meter. Very poor condition. No extra tyre. Damaged trunk floor. Full of scratches all over. Window on driver’s side did not close for most of the period and especially while on the motorway. Lady at the return insisted that a minute superficial scratch on the right side mirror was new. Virtually impossible to see. I had pictures from all over the car at pickup but not ov the mirror. If they charge us for the mini scratch on the we will contact you again.

No willingness to sort the issue there and then: only after I insisted the lady at the counter accepted to take a copy of my voucher and query with discoverycars (no feedback since). I booked an Ibiza or similar car and I got a Yaris instead after the lady at the counter told me that I was upgraded for free! Poor experience .

Pros: I was initially given a car that was completely scratched and dented after a car accident. Complete rubbish! I refused it and said I wasn’t a going to drive a csr in that state after I had paid three hundred euros for car insurance !! What a scam! Finally after losing an hour discussing etc they have me a new csr which was good.

Cons: There were way too many conditions attached to the car rental. So it took ages to collect the car and there was also an extra charge of 1400€ as a deposit to pay on the day, which was quite shocking. They said that they take 300€ per new scratch on the car but the car was covered in really bad scratches so clearly they don't use this money to keep the car in good condition, which I find a bit gross. Overall although the car worked well for us, we were a bit disappointed.

Cons: The lady renting the car simply LIED. She told that we cannot rent a car without buying a child seat for 80 euros. She said "there will be people checking all cars leaving the park if there are child seats or not". There was noone. They tried to offer us a very used small buttom holder that costs 20 euros as new in a shop. Just awful. Other companies rent seats for 10 euros at times and good seats. And we do not use a seat for our child normally.

Goldcar staff claimed that there was too much sands in the car and asked us to either drove out to clean it then return or charge us 70 euros. As a car rental company they should expect some dirt in the car after holiday trip. This is just a scam. If you were in a rush, you may end up to pay the 70 euros charge. Luckly we had plenty of time so I drove out to the petrol station and hoovered car , spent only 1 euro. But too much hassle.

As we were hiring from Nice it feels like a money grab that they charge so much to go into Monaco when so many people probably want to do that. We did not pay this fee as it was a lot for what would have been half a day but it did mean we didn’t get to go. I think it was something like €68, we might have done it had it been half that.

Cons: The car itself was in a very poor state which meant we had to spend quite a bit of time checking the car over so we wouldn’t be blamed. There were some major dents and scuffs and the bumper had a crack along it, I was surprised they could rent a car in this state. It seemed not a single panel or wheel was free of damage.

Cons: GoldCar tried to sell me additional insurance despite being notified that I had the Full Coverage insurance. The exterior of the car took a great deal of checking as the documentation indicated damage on the majority of the body panels. On returning the vehicle a minor chip on the windscreen was highlighted. I received an email within minutes of returning the car with an invoice for 480 euros. I believe the windscreen could be repaired rather than replaced, so 480 euros is extortionate.

Lastly Gold car rented us a beat up car, that had many injuries that WASN'T marked as injuries. I felt because we did not take an upgrade we were given this car. The car also stank of cigarette smoke. We had a 2yr old in the car and the car was not appropriate.

The agent I eventually spoke to was courteous and polite but ultimately Goldcar's policy of forcing you into taking extra insurance which actually costs as much as the actual hire price of the car is ridiculous. The price quoted online is misleading and as a customer you are left feeling like you have been had. I will NEVER use Goldcar again and most of the people in the queue said the same thing. useless
