Guerin at Madeira Funchal Airport

Pros: Great prices, convenient location at airport, smooth pick up and return process.

Pros: The next day, the brakes in the car broke. I could have crashed.

Cons: I was given a faulty car. I spent a day of my vacation to replace the car. No compensation. The deposit has not been returned yet. I was given a completely different car than the one I booked.

Cons: Car provided was significantly larger than the one we booked, and unsuited to narrow Madeiran roads. As a result it got scratched exiting a narrow carpark and cost us an extra 300 euros in damages. We wondered if this was an intentional business strategy and would not use Guerin again as a result

Pros: Every one is so nice and quick, ive booked with then over 4 times now and don't regret, everyone is amazing, not like gordcar next to it, that try to sell insurance again when people already have! Avoid gold car at any cost, gerin are 1000% better, no comparison even.

Pros: The Sines desk was very professional and our second car was ok.

Cons: The lack of a direct Guerin/Discovercars line damaged us since we needed urgent contractual assistance. Worse, the rented car had a serious problem, even detected by us when after 1d we were in Faro again for extending the contract (due to failed support by Discover) but undervalued by Guerin. 3d after we needed assistance in Olaho and 2d after, due to a new car-dashboard warning message in Sines, we had to change the car, finding out that the issue was known by them as "Hyundai-specific" one

Pros: Car ran well. Expensive for the week but seems all rentals on Madiera are. Agent at desk in the airport was great.

Cons: Agent at car park was distracted. There was chewing gum on the car mat he offered to change it but then said he couldn't so put the mat in the boot. Since I've come home I have been charged for missing car documents even thought the car park pass is attached to the documents so I wouldn't have been able to return the car without them.

Pros: Worst rental I've ever had, the customer service at the airport was disgusting

Cons: They charged me 40 euros extra because I arrived 3 minutes past midnight when I was in que, I was told to arrive earlier.... When they took ages to deal with customers

Cons: I would say to upload a card for the vehicle GPS. This would have been useful for the lost of reception every 4-5 mins due to tunnel. Therefore load a SIM card in vehicles to help out.

Cons: The car rental agent of Guerin had a bad mood, she didn’t speak very clear and rushed through the necessary information. She made us feel like we would risk a lot of damage and wanted us to agree upon another insurance. Also the deposit Guerin wanted (€1000) was not agreed upon with Discover cars (deposit of €600). In the end I had to forward our discover car agreement and the deposit of 600 euro was agreed upon. All together this wasn’t a nice start of the holiday.

Pros: Very nice attitude and helpful staff. Car was clean and all damages before were noticed so no worries about hidden surprises. Definitely will take car from them next time again.Btw.. I forgot my credit card but debit card worked as well. Looks now banks are more flexible regarding this.

Pros: Everything. Especially the possibility to change the main driver for free when picking up the car.

Pros: Agents very friendly. We had a problem with the emergency warning message coming on with our car and they resolved it in an hour, sending us another vehicle. A driver brought the vehicle to us, thus we did not have to drive the hour over the mountains to pick up the other car.

Pros: Everything was clear and straightforward. The staff were professional and didn't push more insurance, etc. I declined additional liability because I had full coverage from DiscoverCars. There were no hidden costs or secret charges. The agent did a through walk through. When I returned the car, the agent saw some damage on the bumper. He was v clear about the charges and gave me all the forms for making a claim w/ DiscoverCars. Another bonus is that Guerin's counter is right in the airport.

Cons: They do a checkin via an iPad like device and the contract is sent by email. This assumes you have data on your phone as soon as you land. The car I got felt big for Madeira and had electronic hand brakes, which for a hilly island was not suitable. Not Guerin's fault but I would have preferred a car w. a manual hand brake.

I almost missed my flight back because of a minor scratch on right rear view mirror and a 5mm dent on right frint door that we could not even see but they insisted that we ‘feel’ the dent. We are convinced it is staged so they can claim compensation because he went straight fir the ‘dent’ that you can’t even see. And I had taken insurance with the car hire but they insisted I pay extra amounts with my credit card whic
