Cons: I ordered a "Volkswagen Golf or similar" I got a Fiat Tipo which is a far cheaper, more basic model so I wasn't really happy with that. I paid a bit extra using Hertz over other companies thinking I was going to get a quality car but it was the cheapest most basic model. It didn't even have Bluetooth. My flight was also delayed by an hour and I contacted Hertz to let them know this, they said it was ok as they had my flight number. When I arrived they charged me €30 because I was late

Cons: All good. The car had a fuel leak from a previous repair! (Bodged repair) to the fuel tank according to my daughters fiancee who was with us and is the parts regional manager for Mercedes commercial vehicles locally which was concerning but attended to.

Pros: Once at the airport we was informed Hertz had not received a booking confirmation from discover cars, despite us having the paperwork. No cars were available and discover cars still have not resolved this issue or refunded the deposit.

Pros: Nothing as they had no available car. This is due to discovery operating an ‘on availability’ policy which isn’t easy to find or clearly explained. I do not recommend discovery at all.

Cons: Could not use a hertz car as all were booked in the price range we booked with discovery.

Free cancellation with a full refund up to 48 hours before your pick-up time, Unlimited mileage, Collision Damage Waiver (deductible: € 715.00), Theft Protection, Roadside Assistance (in the country of pick-up), Third Party Liability (TPL), Airport surcharge, Free modifications, State Tax.
Rate excludes
The following mandatory surcharge(s) will be applied: Accident Administration fee.
Driver requirements
Minimum rental age is 21 years.
A young driver fee applies to drivers under the age of 25.

Maximum rental age is 80 years.
A senior driver fee applies to drivers over the age of 71.

The driver license must have been issued by authorized authorities at least 1 year(s) before the date of the commencement of the rental.

Driver licenses will be accepted if issued in the following country(ies): EU countries.
Driver licenses from all other countries must be accompanied with International Driving Permit (IDP).
Please note that the International Driving Permit is valid only if accompanied by the regular driver license.

In order to pick up the car, the following documents are required: valid driver license, credit card on a main drivers name, Passport or ID card, booking voucher.
Deposit and deductible policy
A deposit will be blocked on the customer's credit card and will be released within 30 days after drop-off.
The exact deposit is determined on pick up since the amount is dependent on the type of vehicle.
Optional extras and services
Available special equipment: GPS Navigation system, Baby seat (up to 1 year of age), Child seat (2-4 years of age), Booster seat (4-10 years of age).
Prices for extras are shown on the booking page.


Booked extras are not guaranteed. All extras are subject to availability at the rental counter.

Delivery/Collection service is available only by previous request.
Fuel policy
The vehicle is provided with a certain amount of fuel and must be returned with the same amount in order to avoid additional charges.
A deposit for a tank of fuel is required upon pick up.
Additional information
In case of renting at the airport location, the customer must provide a valid flight number in order to make a reservation.

Winter tires are not mandatory in Cyprus.
Snow chains are allowed in icy/snowy conditions.
Business hours
Service outside of business hours is available by request and for an additional charge.
Period of time, during regular working hours, when the car is still guaranteed for the customer, if the customer is late for pick up (the grace period) is 59 minutes.
If the customer is late for a return for more than 29 minutes, extra day charges will apply, in addition to any other rental charges.
