Pros: The car was clean and did not have any issues

Cons: When I collected the vehicle, I had to wait some time, as the car was not available. I asked questions to the staff - for example, if I needed to make any amendments to the booking, should I call Hertz or discover cars, however, they always said to call discover cars. Every time I did call to inquire or to make an amendment to the booking, discover cars informed me that I should call Hertz. Hertz was not professional or knowledgably about my booking, and even said they had no record of it!

Pros: Fast and efficient. Car was in excellent condition - very clean, full tank. If the price range is not that different from other rental cars companies, I always go with Hertz. Customer service support is great as well.

Cons: I assume that due to strict internal policy for all the processes Hertz is not that flexible as other rental companies may be. For example, only original of driving license was acceptable, not a photo copy.

Rate includes
Free cancellation up to pick-up, Unlimited mileage, Collision Damage Waiver (deductible: ~€ 3150.00), Theft Protection, Roadside Assistance (in the country of pick-up), Third Party Liability (TPL), Airport surcharge, Premium Location fee, Vehicle registration fee, Free modifications, State Tax.
Driver requirements
Minimum rental age is 21 years.
A young driver fee applies to drivers under the age of 21.

There is no maximum age.
A Senior driver fee is not applied.

The driver license must have been issued by authorized authorities at least 1 year(s) before the date of the commencement of the rental.

In addition to the regular driver license, an International Driving Permit is also mandatory if the national driver license is not written in English.
For driver licenses from countries not party to the Geneva / Vienna Convention on Road Traffic (e.g., China), an official translation of the license in the following language(s): English, together with the original license, must be presented.
Please note that the International Driving Permit is valid only if accompanied by the regular driver license.

In addition to documents mentioned previously, the customer will need the following: passport, valid driver license, credit card on a main drivers name, booking voucher, flight information.
In order to pick up the car, domestic renters must present the following documents: passport, valid driver license, booking voucher, proof of home address (e.g. Utility bill).
Deposit and deductible policy
A deposit will be blocked on the customer's credit card until the end of the rental period.
The exact deposit is determined on pick up since the amount is dependent on the type of vehicle.
Payment policy
At time of pick up, customers will be required to pay the amount of the rental and a deposit.
It is possible to leave the deposit only with following methods: Eurocard, Visa Debit Card, MasterCard credit card, VISA credit card, American Express credit card, MasterCard debit card.
Only cards issued in the main driver's name are accepted.
When paying with cash, a debit/credit card issued on the main driver's name is required for security purposes.

Cheques, Diners, Prepaid cards is/are not accepted.

The main driver must provide a physical payment card in their name with enough funds to cover the deposit to pick up the car. The rental company will neither accept virtual credit cards (e.g., GooglePay or ApplePay) nor someone else’s card (including family members).
Cross-border policy
When booking a one-way rental between islands, you'll have to drop off the vehicle at the Wellington office and pick up a different one at the Picton office.
Details are available from the car rental company's reservation office.

Fuel policy
The vehicle is provided with a full tank of fuel and must be returned with the same amount in order to avoid additional charges.
Alternatively, the renter may purchase a tank full of fuel at the time of rental and return the tank empty.
Additional information
The vehicle must be returned in an acceptably clean condition in order to avoid additional charges.
Business hours
Period of time, during regular working hours, when the car is still guaranteed for the customer, if the customer is late for pick up (the grace period) is 59 minutes.
If the customer is late for a return for more than 59 minutes, extra day charges will apply, in addition to any other rental charges.
