Cons: The car pickup is 2miles away, you have to wait for a shuttle to come get you up if you don’t have international calling you can’t call them to pick you up. You get to the facility where you then check yourself in via QR code while the staff ignores you. They then bring up a shabby car, with no instructions on how to drop off car at destination. We called Wellington office 4x to get instructions emailed to us to drop off. Then had to drop off car on street next to gas station. So unorthodox!

When I arrived at the depot I was told that I should have been back by 8:00. I showed the representative my contract which stated 10:00. He then insisted that he had to check the car for damage to compare it to any damage when we collected it, I ask why when we had taken out “piece of mind” insurance and hadn’t been given any information on existing damage om collection

Pros: The agent called me the day before said my online check in with credit card problem, I corrected it over the phone with the agent, asked him if everything ok, I got an email 30 mins later then said the driving license upload got problem, and I called again to the agent, another person said everything looks good... so it is waste of time for me to handle such problems

Cons: The Auckland pick up and drop off experience is terrible.. it's provided by heartland hotel, which means I paid extra for after hrs pick up and drop off for nothing, coz I have to match the hotel shuttle time instead of matching my own schedule time

Cons: As explained above: Neutral score is given here for some questions because I was not satisfied about the lack of response to my query about the level of insurance that was covered in the rate I paid. I rang after hours, at the time of pickup at Heartland H. in Auckland, but nobody rang me back. According to what I actually paid, I had paid for Full Coverage ($11 per day). However, I paid a $3000 deposit which- as far as I could tell- corresponded to NO coverage!

Cons: We ordered a Toyota Hiace and were given a Nissan Caravan - the seats were tiny and the whole car was MUCH smaller, holding only half the amount of luggage. We had to pick up after hours so never spoke with anyone directly from the car rental company and felt we were taken avantage of due to the late pickup. THe car was in terrrible disrepair, radio and demister didn't work, no air in the back part of the van and parts were falling off inside, it was like driving a rundown delivery van.

We were also charged extra $40 because we returned the car half an hour early at 0830 am -which was still considered as after hours this was not stated on the rental agreement.

Pros: I researched a few companies and decided to go with Mode. Super easy to navigate website, was affordable for our family, had everything we required, and staff were very friendly and responded quickly to my queries.

Pros: Free shuttle service to the airport, provided an uber when the shuttle was away so we were on time for our flight

Pros: The second company sales person was very friendly and efficient. Easily swapped the initial car (poor condition) that was given to me.

Cons: the initial (Asian) sales person gave me such a poor condition car that made noise and did not drive properly. Luckily the next person swapped it easily with my concerns.
