Noleggiare at Florence Santa Maria Novella Railway Station

Pros: We rented a 7 seat “intermediate van” for 6 people. We got a Peugeot 5008 which was perfect for my family of 6 with 1 carry on sized bag each. It did have a 7th seat but we would not have fit 7 with bags. It was perfect for Italy’s tight roads both in Florence and in Tuscany. The car rental was the part of our trip I was the most concerned about but Noleggiare nailed every detail: a great experience! Note if coming from US you DO need the international driving permit. $20 at AAA.

Cons: Noleggiare’s service was friendly and efficient. Seemed like everyone who worked for them was nice and spoke English very well. It’s a bit of a walk from S. Maria station in Firenze to their office but it was exactly where they said and straight forward. Once there, they processed our rental quickly, shuttled us to the car and we were on our way with exactly the car we expected and better service than I could hope for. 100% would rent from them again!

Pros: Once, we found the office, staff was helpful. They explained that the insurance coverage on the contract did not cover the car damages, etc. We had to pay more money for adequate insurance coverage.

Cons: You gave me a car with small damages and didn’t take note of this just saying “no worries” all will be okay and now I receive a report with calling it is my responsibility? It is a shame of you. I will report to all web trip sites about your bad services if you do not fix it asap.

Cons: Unfortunately, discover car rentals did not inform me that in Italy you have to have an international driving permit. So I was unable to rent the car.

Pros: The car was in a good condition, drop off location was central.

Cons: At the service desk(first location) the guy forced me to get platinum insurance, he said it is mandatory and after I said no I don't want it clearly, he stopped insisting but I got disturbed by this condition.

Cons: they are not clear enough to tell that non-EU drivers need an international license. It is only because they want to charge you more for full insurance (that is already paid to discovercars)

Pros: The car itself was good value except that I was asked to top up my insurance despite buying the full cover from Discovery. It ran well although and was relatively clean (although there were footprints etc on mats, doors and car had brake pads worn warning).

Cons: Firstly, the car pick-up was very far from rental company shopfront which was already some distance from the train station. I left my family a the station and by the time I came around to pick them it was an hour later. Secondly, I was told I had to produce an international driver's licence. I have NEVER been asked for this in Italy and my next rental at Sixt. Because of this they made me purchase max insurance cover even tho I Had already bought max cover from Discovercars.

Cons: The agent at the rental desk was overworked, unhelpful and seemed determined to upsell me on CDW insurance. It took over an hour after completing the rental documents to finally get the car keys. The car was very dirty, especially the windshield. I had to stop to get window cleaner so I could see to get out of town. I asked for it repeatedly but never got a paper copy of my rental agreement. I did not get the car that was offered when I made the booking. The alternative was less than satisfactor

Cons: They refused to give me the car, because I didn’t have an international driver’s permit. Discover Cars then pocketed the initial 60$ fee. I imagine Noleggiare got a cut, however I would need to confirm. Avis had no issues renting me a car right next door. And they communicated to me that this is common with Noleggiare. They will rent a car to multiple people and then turn them away when they show up to get the easy cash. This scam generates thousands of euros with no service provided.

Pros: my booking was cancelled because I was an hour late to my window due to unforeseen circumstances. my trip was ruined.

Pros: Nothing. Fraudulent company renting damaged vehicles then trying to charge for damages already there.

Cons: Contrary to what is indicated when renting a car from the Florence train station, there is no shuttle service to take you to the rental office. Had to drag luggage through several city blocks to get to office. Car is not located at office, a shuttle is required to get to garage, a further delay. Upon return of the car the car rental employee went over every single inch of the car looking for the smallest issue in order to make a claim. Luckily I took out insurance, photograph everything…

Cons: It took an hour and a half to get the car. There was a line out the door. Although we did everything online it did not help expedite the procedure of picking up the car. We were shuttled to an offsite to pick up car. The cars air co condition went on and off. It was so miserably hot. The car turned off on us twice. We changed our travel plans and returned it two days early. They did nothing to take care of the issue. I was told to take it up online.

Cons: Worst rental experience ever regarding picking up the car. When we arrived at the site for our reservation, the line up was 20 people deep outside the door, with about 10 people inside. There were only 2 representatives helping customers, & it took at least 20 minutes per rental. Once a representative finished with a customer, he then walked them outside & down a block to show where to wait for the shuttle, adding another 5 minutes to the time spent. It took over 2 hours to get into our car.

Cons: When I booked the car, I booked a "small SUV similar to a Skoda Karoq". I was expecting something similar to a Rav 4 and I got a Hyundai Kona, which is just a hatchback car. We had 4 adults and 7 suitcases . The people in the back were very uncomfortable on the way to our Airbnb. Once we started our day trips the car was plenty big, however. It would be nice to have a more accurate description and maybe a roof rack??

Pros: They wouldn’t rent us a car based on not having an “international drivers license. They said it was illegal in Italy to rent without it even though every other car company was willing to rent to us.

Pros: The agent was polite - even though he was unable to provide us with a car. He let us sit in the air condition while we tried to fix the mess and book train tickets at the last minue.

Cons: Though the obligation for an International Permit was in the fine print - it would have been VERY HELPFUL if it had been made clearer to us when we made the booking.

Cons: I waited for the attendant to review the car after return, and was told everything looked ok. He did not give me any paperwork at that time, and several days later I received an email stating that there was a scratch on the door. I don't believe that was from our trip, as we were driving mostly in the countryside, and had no issues. Also, the gas was supposed to be full at pick up, and it was less than 1/3 full. The wait time to get the car was about 2 hours. I would not rent from them again.

Cons: With the number or rental pickups scheduled for that day, they needed way more agents to assist. A 2 hour wait is unacceptable. As a whole, the insurance process should be better explained in advance as between Discover Cars and Noleggiare.

Cons: The insurance part is bit messy as if you didn't do the insurance with them you will face alot of issues when you return the car even if the car was clean as you took it . They will find a way to let you pay extra . As i have an ongoing case with them

Pros: Very slow. Not helpful at Florence to get the car. Car was not clean with trash from previous passengers in the rear. Had to call them the last day to remind them that we did not pick up at 9 am - we picked up at 1pm so should be able to drop off them as well.

Cons: The meeting location of both pick up and drop off were not accurate. It made the whole process very long and difficult. It was a very tiring and frustrating process and when I tried to contact anyone there was no response. Would not recommend.

Cons: The car was not a “similar” model to what we selected and paid for. I had to hire a driver and get train tickets for 2 of our riders because the the car was too small. We selected a midsized SUV that was supposed to hold 5 passengers and 4 or 5 bags. This was not possible. False advertising in my opinion. The office is a long way from where the cars are and it was a very inefficient service. Turning the car in gave an address that was a tire shop and incorrect. Highly dissatisfied

Pros: Returning the car was very easy and the person there was helpful and called us a taxi so we didn’t wait for the shuttle because of our earlier poor experience.

Cons: There was only one employee at the rental desk, so there was a decent queue. Then we had to wait for a shuttle to take us to pick up the car and this was more than 30 minutes. We had a 9:30 pick up time and by the time we found the rental agency office and got shuttled to the car, it was almost 11:30. This took time away from our planned day.

Cons: I had to wait in the office for up to 2 hours to be attended, and then pick up the car about 15 minutes walk away, when I put Florence Train Station in the reservation. I lost two hours of my excursion time. In the end, in this way I felt a little cheated because they could warn me before making the reservation

The car tank wasn’t full, and they said there was an issue with the car marking it full which was a lie. When I filled up the car, the marking was pointing normal to full, which means I lost money there. They never got my phone call or replied to any email. Avoid this company at cost of you are reading this

Cons: Car returned garage was in ZTL. Car return timing was ZTL active time so was really confusing. Staff at return center was really rude and was told to leave the car and go. Next i received a form to say I choose not to wait and was told that the mirror that was broken during collection of the car was flagged as damaged. Not good experience.

Cons: It took one and one half hours to pick up the car in Florence. They should have had more than one staff member working. We checked in online as advised but it made no difference as we had to supply the same information at pickup. This is a waste of time.

Cons: They were not help when we ended up not being able to pick up our car at the location specified. They wouldn’t transfer our reservation to anywhere else, and we lost all of the money we had paid for the rental (and had to then spend more on top of that to rent elsewhere).

Cons: After hours return garage had gate closed with no easy way to figure out how to return. Had to wait in a one-way street for a long time and finally the attendant came out.

Cons: They charged me for an dents not done by me No inspection or video was taken before renting the car and the vehicle was handed over at a junction where people were honking from behind so even we did not get a chance to take a video.

Cons: The drop off adress I requested was airport, however the address was not in the airport, and since my flight was at night I had to drive there and live car earlier since there was no shuttle from location to airport at night. When I asked for early drop off to in the city they requested extra payment.
