PANEK
Panek is a Polish car rental company headquartered in Warsaw. The company was founded in 2000 in the smaller regional Polish city of Lublin. Panek takes its name from its founder, Maciej Panek, who still manages the company.
In recent years, Panek has also started participating in the car-sharing industry. The company has more than 2,500 vehicles in cities across Poland. These vehicles are separate vehicles and not the same as their main car rental business. So when you land at the airport and go to the rental desk, you won’t be given one of these cars.
The company has been so successful that it has been able to expand to neighboring countries. It has locations in Lituania’s largest cities — Vilnius, Kaunas, and Klaipeda. It also has locations in Czechia, in Brno, Prague, and Ostrava, specifically. The company has expanded to the Latvian car rental market (the home of DiscoverCars.com), too, with a location serving Riga Airport. Finally, the company has a location serving Bratislava Airport in Slovakia. Outside of Poland, the company's locations are all at airports. Within Poland, the company has locations both at all major airports and in the center of all major cities.
One issue that causes frustration for many renters is that many rental companies only accept credit cards, particularly when it comes to leaving the security deposit. Unfortunately, Panek is one of these companies (at least at its locations in Poland). You’ll have to have a credit card to rent a vehicle from Panek (or even two for certain classes of vehicles like premium cars).
Another major concern for many renters is if they’re allowed to take the vehicle outside of the country where they rented it. With Pankek, renters are in luck, as they are allowed to travel with the vehicle to many European countries, including the Baltic countries (Lithuania, Latvia, and Estonia), Czechia, Slovakia, and Germany. Panek does charge a fee for this, though. You also must let the company know of your plans and receive permission before you take the vehicle outside of Poland. Like almost all rental companies (if not all), Panek does not allow its vehicles to be taken to Belarus or Ukraine.
