Rent a Wreck
Despite its fear-inducing name, Rent a Wreck has built a successful business of renting out used or otherwise imperfect cars; one of the company’s most popular advertising slogans was ‘Don’t let the name fool you!’. Based in Los Angeles, it has offices across the US, as well as in the Caribbean.
Rent a Wreck was founded in 1968 and started opening franchise locations in the 1970s. The company also has franchises in Iceland, Sweden and Norway.
Some of the company’s more popular locations in the US include Reno, Nevada; San Francisco, California; Seattle, Washington; Chicago, Illinois; Detroit, Michigan; New York, New York, and Miami, Florida.
In most of its locations in the US, renters are allowed to drive their rental vehicles to any state in the US and to Canada. Note that if you’re a Canadian resident, you can’t travel with the vehicle to Canada.
