SKG Rent A Car
SKG is a Greek car rental company based in Thessaloniki. It has locations on the mainland of Greece (including Athens Airport and Thessaloniki Airport), but the only islands that the company serves are Santorini, Skiathos, and Corfu, and as of 2023, Crete (at Heraklion Airport). The company continues to expand within Greece. SKG allows one-way rentals between its locations on the mainland (you usually aren’t allowed to take your vehicle onboard a ferry). You’ll have to book the one-way rental in advance and will be charged an additional fee for such.
Keep in mind that if you are from a country that isn’t in the EU, you may be asked by SKG Rent a Car to show an IDP. Drivers from the UK do not need an IDP, though.
Renting a car when you don’t have a credit card can be a hassle at times. Unfortunately, SKG though SKG does accept debit cards for payment, it requires a credit card to leave the deposit. So if you don’t have a credit card, you’ll need to find a different company to rent from.
Most of SKG’s airport locations are located off-airport. The company provides a free shuttle service to take you to their location to pick up your vehicle.
