Sonic Car Rental at Orlando Airport

Pros: Nothing!!!!! It was a scam!!!! Called both numbers that we were sent several times before anyone picked up the phone!!!!

Cons: Bait and switch - this company is a band of gypsies. $60 rental cost $400 because they require $300000 in property damage, no credit card insurance accepted - this is not anywhere in their documentation. They also pushed their toll transponders on everyone there, hard ("there's a $30 fine for every toll without a transponder"), even though all tolls in Florida were suspended at the time. Pickup took over an hour. This place is upper crooked and you should be ashamed of selling their services.

Pros: Not alot. I was quoted £200 for the car but after toll pass fees ( that I didn't need or was explained to me properly) taxes and fees ended up paying £540 for the car. This is unacceptable. It also took way to long to do the paperwork for the car.

They didn’t have a pass to pick up at the airport and were there illegally and pretended they didn’t speak English to try and get out Of the fine. We paid for insurance only to be told that the insurance coverage was no good and we’d have to buy their insurance which added an extra almost $550 to what we thought

They were late for pick up and wasted 3 hours of my trip. Their google reviews are fake! The main agent at Sonic by the name of Pedro tried to persuade me into renting the vehicle because according to him, I was not going to get a better deal elsewhere.I did get a much better deal, more than half the price compared to $500

We did an onlien reservation that took our money and never informed us about a very small selected group of car insurance companies that we had to have and were being forced to purchase insurance through you, even though we already we have quite a generous comprehensive insurance coverage.

Cons: Wasted many hours being shuttled to your rental location and back to the airport to get another rental with a more reputable company. Wasted our family time after a long flight. At this point, we would like to have our online reservation fee returned back to us.

Cons: The car we were supposed to be renting was crashed in the process of coming to pick us up, there was no shuttle available so our group had to be ferried in 3 separate journeys to the rental location, we were given the only cars that were available (one was significantly smaller than what we believed we had booked) we ended up renting the car they used to come and pick us up in, which hadn't been cleaned so we had to wait for them to clean the car before we could leave. Really terrible experience

Cons: Everything - tried to overcharge us to the tune of $300 and our friends $500 - On drop off of the vehicle - no shuttle to return us to the airport instead they ordered an uber for us - it was raining and we had all our luggage outside whilst the uber was 15 minutes away. Not the service we signed up for or expected for the cost we have paid ....

We didn't realize the location was away from the airport, so we would have called right after we landed had we known we'd be waiting ten minutes for him to arrive and another ten to drive to the company location, but he was as fast as he could have been.

I should have just rented with a major company at the airport. Charging people to use the (tolls) is not fair. There should be an option for people to opt out of this, and to pay for the tolls as they go. There was no mention of this additional fee when I was agreeing to the rental. We will not use your service again

I’ve NEVER had my car insurance rejected and I’ve rented a lot of cars. The car was ok, nothing special and shook when I got up to 70 mph. I was also told to vacume out the car before returning it.

My flight from Sydney to the US was cancelled and rescheduled, which meant my flight into Orlando didn't get there until late at night - after hours. Sonic Car Rental had a team member available who even picked us up from the airport and sorted out the car rental for us. The car was perfect for what I needed for my visit. I would definitely use Sonic Car Rental again.

Up front AVIS was charging under $400 for a RAV4. We paid $550 for a Honda HRV that was to cost around $300.

There is no landline at the business, there is no shuttle, bus, and a shady guy will communicate with you to try to pick you up in an unmarked vehicle, where no one has had proven background checks.

I even received a text from them prior to my arrival in Orlando, asking me for the preference of my car, etc. The entire team was quick in responding to the questions we had. They also explained everything in detail about the terms and conditions of renting the car to avoid any misunderstanding later on. Overall, a great experience, and wouldn't hesitate in recommending SONIC car to my family members and friends.

Cons: Stuck in a corner with toll payments. We only drove the car for 2 of the 4 days we had it but had to pay for the tolls every day. They aren’t helpful with the options just explain the best is the most expensive.

Cons: Unadvertised extra fees for tolls, will try and sell extra insurance (not required) Initial quote over £200 cheaper than initial quotes from big rental companies like Sixt or Alamo however after paying the extra toll cost ($14.99 a day) it ended up being slightly more expensive. Discover cars platform should be more honest about these additional costs however so you don’t find out when you’re there.

Cons: Sonic’s vehicles have a SunPass mini fitted so the prepaid lanes can be used; however, only if you agree to pay $12.99 per day or you have to stay away from any toll gate (you can’t use the cash lanes!) as the transponder could trigger the charge and you’ll get a $30 charge for your trouble. This makes the SunPass “facility” a serious inconvenience if you don’t pay the daily charge, which you are never going to recoup. Sonic should charge a flat fee for tolls, then refund what isn’t used.
