Sun Car Rentals at Malta Airport

Pros: Good car for a good price

Cons: Did not like the half-to-empty fuel policy. Did not like the blockage of 3600€ despite using credit card

Cons: Never again with this company. They charge ridiculous fees, like around 30 euros for airport entry or 40 euros for half a tank of fuel!!! None of these fees are, of course, mentioned in the terms and conditions. On top of that, we got a different car than we had ordered, and it was completely battered. Fortunately, the refund to the credit card went smoothly.

Pros: Nothing. This was only a scam and they wanted to chargé me for everything.

Cons: Additional charges they wanted from me - they charged me 50 euros for administrative fre to pay my 23 euros fine for parking. They charged me 25 euro for returning car at 7;30 a.m and wanted to chargé more in case i am late. I had to pay in the office for half tank of fuel, which was more expensive than in the petrol station. And they manipulated with tank, so the indicator of fuel was responding with the delay. I tank the car for 30 euros and the indicator did not move at all.

Pros: Very poor. The check-in clerk plus there is no signage as to where the check-in office is!

Cons: I had a very unpleasant experience with one of the employees at Sun Car Rental. She was hostile, rude, and unprofessional throughout our interaction. After we signed the contract, she practically threw us out of the office, opening the door wide and commenting that other customers were waiting. This left a very bad impression and made the whole experience uncomfortable. I expected much better service.

Pros: Would mark '0' if option was there. The company failed to provide us the minibus at Malta Airport. We had to arrange a taxi ourselves at 11pm as they said it was none of their business. Only for them to deliver the minibus one day later. Car broke down on 3rd day. No replacement vehicle offered. Again missed our last day of rental and had to arrange a taxi for ourselves to the airport. AVOID AVOID AVOID!

Cons: Person on the Assistant line was rude and unhelpful. Told me that he would charge us for a burnt clutch without seeing or inspecting the car. My friend is a mechanic and clearly the car had a faulty gearbox. Had to pay €100 euro for recovery even though the roadside assistance was free and included in our rental agreement. They simply don't care and don't even have basic customer service

Pros: Rápido y la oficina estaba abierta a las 12 de la noche, cosa que fue práctica ya que nos movieron el vuelo.

Cons: Cuando llegamos el agente llamado “Menkel” que nos atendió estaba discutiendo con otros clientes, de manera muy agitada, casi llegan a los golpes. A nosotros nos atendió después de eso, el estaba muy acelerado y desconcentrado. Nos pasó las llaves del auto y no nos acompañó al auto. El auto estaba en muy mal estado, la caja de cambios dura, el asiento con quemaduras de cigarrillo, muchos choques. Eso si era funcional! No nos falló y en bencina era económico.

Pros: Good car, nice guy handling the cars in the parking basement (Indian/Asian looking).

Cons: Hard to find - tiny representation in an office with ten other representations. Way too high car deposit. Pick up half full and return tank empty policy which is just another scam.

Cons: I purchased a waiver insurance policy with Discover and was under the impression that I would only need to pay a £600 deposit. However, when I arrived, I was informed that I would actually need to pay a deposit of £4500. To reduce this amount to £600, I had to pay an additional £140. They mentioned that I would need to file a claim with Discover in case of any incident. Cons: 40€ of gazoline for half of the tank at the pickup when the price per litter is about 1,30€ is a joke. Airport fee + service fee also was a joke, we were about to pay only 21,50€ at the desk for the rest to pay well told by Discovercars but we end up paying 100€ of taxes and taxes out of nowhere

Cons: I didn’t get a booking number? I have tried to contact you for a refund but have had nothing. Turned up at the desk after queuing for an hour only to be asked where my booking number is. I was not emailed one anywhere. I ended up renting from elsewhere. I have tried to contact you to no avail

Cons: I was charged a ‘location’ fee which was apparently part of the rental agreements Ts an Cs but when I read through the voucher issued there was nothing mentioned - I still don’t know what this fee is for?

Cons: Was given a different car from what I selected so could have saved alot of money just booking a cheaper model, car was covered in dents and scratches which they tried to avoid marking on the paperwork

Cons: Car tyre was flat on the second day. Told to change the wheel and get the tyre repaired. Took tyre for repair Informed tyre had a bad repair before and needed a new tyre. Sun cars said take it to another place who repaired it. Took half a day out of my Holiday. Four days later, arrived at our destination with a different flat tyre. Told again to change it and get it repaired. it was Sunday nothing in the vicinity open. On inspection tyre very worn. Back to hotel not risking another puncture. D

Cons: Departing late from Athens flight to Malta I noticed in advance the agent on Whatsapp customer service number that we will have some flight delay. The flight was supposed to arrive at 5:35pm but got there at 6:20pm. He told us right away that we will have an out of office fee for picking up the car after business hours. Even though on 4 different online platforms, their business hours say they close at 8:30pm. As we arrived at 7, some agent was napping on the desk. (No more space to write more)

Cons: It was probably the worst experience that I have ever had when renting a car. Initially, it was difficult to find their office as it is part of a car rental group and wasn't noted in the map. Then, I had an issue with my credit card (it was a bank issue) so we could only pay by debit and the agent took advantage of our confusion/agitation and made us pay more without even informing us. Please avoid Sun Car Rentals and it is such a pity that Discover Cars is collaborating with this company!

Cons: They don't have their own car park, they rent it from other companies. I chose one brand of car and they gave me another, if they don't have what I chose, they should give me a higher class car, unfortunately. We received a car with incompletely attached lights and other body parts.

There was a problem with the credit card and i dont know if it was a coincidence that the couple before had the same problem and we had to pay extra 60€ because we had to use our debit card

Have been advised 14-21 days for deposit refund - most companies can do this is a few days (immediate unblock) so hope I won’t be waiting any longer than stated

They didn't take us to the car so we spent a long time walking around the car park trying to find it. When we returned the car they did a thorough inspection, seems as though they were looking for anything they could to charge us an extra fee. Also extremely strict about droptime
