Thrifty at Alicante Airport

Pros: Car was in a good condition, booked price was excellent, we resolved the issue with a the overpriced booking.

Cons: The staff misled me and charged me over four times the booked price. Later they claimed their hands were tied and blamed me for not reading the agreement they had sneakily included.

Cons: They pushed so hard and told me that I had to have insurance from them, since the extra coverage I boight from discoverycars would’nt help me! This is so annoying and unreasnable! I am glad I said NO, and told the person behind the desk that I already paid insurance! She wanted me to pay double amount of what I already had paid to discoverycars.

Pros: When giving back the fairly new car they said a part of the key was missing I only drove the car from the airport to my apartment and back a week later Either the key was faulty or the desk assistant removed a small key in the side of the keys They are now charging me for the keys There making there money up by charging for damage that never happened They don’t like it that you have paid for the car and insurance from a broker Never use firefly SCAMMERS

Pros: Have used firefly many times at alicante airport and staff have always been helpfull. On this trip my flight was delayed till after 1.00am (there closing time) after a phone call a helpful member of staff waited for my flight to arrive nearly 2.00am. Cars are always in good condition and a clean.

Cons: Nothing, Staff always helpful and will always be my first choice.

Pros: Was easy to book. Relatively easy to find and get the key, and was also easy enough to return.

Cons: No directions as to where Firefly was after yoh collect your baggage.

Cons: The time on the booking said office closes at 1am but the desk in the terminal issues the car keys is 24hrs, this did cause us concern when in the airport leaving the UK.

Cons: had a bit of anxiety about office being closed when we arrived at sat lunchtime as our flight was delayed and it said we had to be there by 2pm... but luckily office was open :-) We booked through booking agent discover cars. There were lots of warnings about office closing times (some parts said 1pm some said 2pm) and in the end the office was still open as were leaving after 2pm. Also its an early closing time anyway.

Cons: Hidden costs - very expensive! Not sure why I paid £150 twice plus insurance!! People at the desk unable to explain. Over an hour wait for car once at terminal

Cons: We were a bit annoyed that we were charged extra because our flight was late which I could understand if someone had to come out specially for us but there was a long queue & probably each & every person got charged extra, it’s really unavoidable to get there on time if the flight is late…we rang from the airport in UK & warned we’d be late because the paperwork said we’d have to ring & let them know or the car rental would be completely cancelled & we’d lose our money… it’s not very fair

Pros: Helpful agent when picking up car as we were 30 minutes late - flight delay. We had ring to explain and told not to worry even though the office closed at 1.00am and we only got to the office approx 12.30am

Cons: No breakdown assistance as standard, wanted me to pay extra. Any marks left on the car large than 1cm would be chargeable. Agent Stated no marks on the car when signing for it, but there were.

Cons: disappointing experience with this car rental company. They need to be more transparent about the condition of their vehicles. The collection officer tried to upsell me multiple extras, including full coverage and insurance which I had already bought during booking. The agent initially noted 4 noticeable defects on the car, I video recorded 27+ defects If I had not done so, the company would have blamed me for all damages and withheld my £1000 deposit (which I am still waiting on my refund )

Cons: No handover / inspection process when returning the vehicle. No one in the return office to help (call special assistance for my elderly parents). No immediate confirmation that the car was returned in good order and no charges against the deposit would be made and that the car fuel was confirmed as full and no fuel charges would be made.

Cons: On returning the car they then accused me of damaging the car. The damage was on the car on pick up which they informed about and gave me details of the damage with the rental agreement!! Very stressful situation and still not sure if they have now realised their mistake. Probably get a summons for the €180 in the future. Will never use Thrifty again.
