Thrifty at Alicante Airport

Pros: The pick-up process was smooth, and returning the car was just as effortless—simply follow the car hire return signs at the airport! The cost of hire was very competitive, making it excellent value for money. I highly recommend Thrifty and would definitely use their service again in the future!

Cons: Rude staff who treated me like some kind of village idiot as I had not bought my insurance through them. Tried the upsell to automatic but then when that did not work they treated me like a fool. Had to refuel within 10km of airport AND provide receipt. Car had a tyre pressure leak on drivers side rear tyre - needed reinflating (at my cost) every other day. Other tyres were overinflated and potentially lethal.

Cons: Ripped off by return charges, We had to leave early and unexpectedly not having time to refuel due to a family member dying and we were charged £150 for a gallon of fuel, disgraceful

Cons: In total I paid over £400 when the displayed price at time of booking was £132. I expected some extra charges because that is the way of things these days but the actual price should be clearly visible at the time of purchase

Cons: Agent heavily sold the full coverage. But I have an annual zero excess policy for hire cars. She told me that a breakdown would not be covered which imo is poor for a new vehicle. There were a couple of dents on the car, not shown on the report, when I went back and advised was told to take photos and then show when I returned the car. Also, the economy car I got (Dacia) was nowhere near as good as the compact car my son got

Cons: The staff misled me and charged me over four times the booked price. Later they claimed their hands were tied and blamed me for not reading the agreement they had sneakily included.

Pros: When giving back the fairly new car they said a part of the key was missing I only drove the car from the airport to my apartment and back a week later Either the key was faulty or the desk assistant removed a small key in the side of the keys They are now charging me for the keys There making there money up by charging for damage that never happened They don’t like it that you have paid for the car and insurance from a broker Never use firefly SCAMMERS

Pros: Have used firefly many times at alicante airport and staff have always been helpfull. On this trip my flight was delayed till after 1.00am (there closing time) after a phone call a helpful member of staff waited for my flight to arrive nearly 2.00am. Cars are always in good condition and a clean.

Cons: The time on the booking said office closes at 1am but the desk in the terminal issues the car keys is 24hrs, this did cause us concern when in the airport leaving the UK.

Cons: had a bit of anxiety about office being closed when we arrived at sat lunchtime as our flight was delayed and it said we had to be there by 2pm... but luckily office was open :-) We booked through booking agent discover cars. There were lots of warnings about office closing times (some parts said 1pm some said 2pm) and in the end the office was still open as were leaving after 2pm. Also its an early closing time anyway.

Cons: We were a bit annoyed that we were charged extra because our flight was late which I could understand if someone had to come out specially for us but there was a long queue & probably each & every person got charged extra, it’s really unavoidable to get there on time if the flight is late…we rang from the airport in UK & warned we’d be late because the paperwork said we’d have to ring & let them know or the car rental would be completely cancelled & we’d lose our money… it’s not very fair

Cons: disappointing experience with this car rental company. They need to be more transparent about the condition of their vehicles. The collection officer tried to upsell me multiple extras, including full coverage and insurance which I had already bought during booking. The agent initially noted 4 noticeable defects on the car, I video recorded 27+ defects If I had not done so, the company would have blamed me for all damages and withheld my £1000 deposit (which I am still waiting on my refund )

No immediate confirmation that the car was returned in good order and no charges against the deposit would be made and that the car fuel was confirmed as full and no fuel charges would be made.
