Way2Azores Rent at Ponta Delgada Airport

Pros: The staff were wonderful and the rates great.

Cons: The pick up in the morning is very delayed (45 minutes) and the phonecall (expensive as it is international) is permanently on hold making us worry something was wrong. There was a further 45 minute wait to be assigned a car.

Pros: Nothing! They gave the impression of crooks smiling assassins.

Cons: Tried to call with a query and they repeatedly put the phone down. Car broke down and took half a day of our seven day holiday to replace it!

Pros: Quick and easy and no fuss about the insurance.

Cons: I wish they had a booth directly at the airport.

Pros: Once we called from the airport for the shuttle , it didn’t take long to pick us up.

Cons: They should have had all the paperwork ready before we arrived, as to avoid the long wait. Only one check in person during popular arrival time.

Cons: When we arrived, the 3rd party company you contracted with tried to charge us for "staying late" for our pickup and then aggressively pushed for us to purchase extra insurance that we knew we did not need. We were then rushed out of their parking lot while still trying to figure out how to operate the vehicle.

Pros: Good communication (called ahead on the day of pickup with instructions, responsive to questions via WhatsApp) and a transparent process (car examined together with same agent at pick-up and drop-off, mechanism for cancelling deposit payment explained in detail).

Cons: Deposit is higher than other local agencies (€2000 + €120 fuel deposit). But, otherwise significantly cheaper than the competition.

Pros: Our car broke down in the country and they immediately sent out a replacement

Pros: i rented a car and returned it and upon returning it they said there was a scratch on the passenger side mirror. i went back to the car and had a wet napkin and it wiped off clean as new but they said it was damaged when i returned it and even though it came off it was still damaged upon return. and said i should have bought insurance. what a terrible thing to experience

Pros: Despite the negative reviews, we took a risk on way2azores and had no real problems. The car was very simple and had many small issues as it was an older model, however it drove well and we had no problem with it. Way2Azores was a good price

The rental agents really search the car for any tiny scratch or issue. It was definitely the most thorough inspection of a car I returned that I’ve ever seen

Cons: Worst car rental ever. Don’t rent there!!!!! We arrived with our 4 young kids at Way 2Azores car rental to pick up our “little” 7 passengers car (Opel Zafira). They told us at it burned and that they could only give us a little bus ( way too big to drive downtown Ponte Delgada). I explain to the lady that we rented an airbnb with inside garage and that I didn’t think it would fit. She insisted that we would have any problems with parking. So we left with the bus…LOT of PROBLEMS with this car.

Pros: Everyone very friendly and efficient. Discover Cars is great on customer service, and we would use Way2Azores again.

Cons: We got the one car that didn't have the fuel sticker on the gas tank cover, so we weren't sure what kind of gas to use. For gas engine, use the green pumps -- which, in the US, are diesel. In the Azores, green is gasoline. Would have been good to know that in advance. Also, it would be helpful to have a sheet of paper that tells what the traffic signs mean. That was also new to a first-time visitor.

Cons: We got a flat tire and we could not change it ourselves because a key tool was missing. For this, we had to wait for the company to bring us the tool and they charged us 370€ for their trip out (if all the tools were with the spare tire we would have been able to change it ourselves instead of waiting for them in the little shoulder of a very busy road). The agents were rude when we pointed out that the missing tool was the company’s fault, and did not want to take responsibility for it.

Cons: there was a major problem with the obstacle detection that nearly caused an very severe accident. when mentioning that to the employee, not a single excuse or sign that it was a concern.

From the moment I arrived at the airport they came and picked us up within 10 minutes and very quick drop off when i returned the vehicle to make sure we didn’t miss our flight. I can certainly see that customer service is their top priority. Thank you all the guys there for making my trip to Sao Miguel a great one . I will certainly use and recommend Way2Azores Car Rental again 😊🙏

It was not safe to drive in the mountains with the rain using bald tires. Damage on vehicles should be repaired if clients pay for the damage they incur.

Cons: I was taken advantage of. They wouldn't use the credit card I reserved the car with. I didn't have another card on me. They wouldn't allow my partner to pay. But they allowed my wife to pay a couple of hundred euros MORE. I feel we were scammed. Also, be warned that the additional insurance requires you to call them in advance if there is any damage, if you don't, even though you paid for coverage, you will be required to pay. Another scam in my opinion. I have never had these experiences.

Pros: The staff at the office were really fantastic - we had read all sorts of nightmare reviews about price gouging - the pickup and drop off process could not have been easier. The car was older 85,000km but everything worked including the Apple Car Play which was a lifesaver on the roads. I highly recommend

The fact that this rental agency was offsite was not clearly identified when booking. The agent then proceeded to upsell insurance options and advised that a $3000 deposit was required up front when my contract clearly stated $1700. "oops, my bad" was his response. The vehicle itself barely fit our 4 suitcases when we had 5! Again, very frustrating and uncomfortable.

Cons: The procedure to rent and return the car is a bit laborious, but in the end, worth it for the good price. From the airport, you have to call them, then wait for the shuttle to take you to the rental place. When you return the car, you do the reverse. It only takes maybe 30 to 45 min. So if your primary concern is ease and convenience you can probably pay more for that. If you want a better price and are willing to spend the time, Way2Azores is well worth it.

At the end, we settled for a smaller, albeit automatic transmission car - but as far from good service and product as can be.

Cons: 1) Down payment of $1600 euro, proved very difficult since credit card for designated driver had issues and we couldn't use another credit card under my name. We almost walked away, it took 15min to contact credit card company in Canada at 3am (7am Azores time). 2) The advertisement for car rental stated they were located at the airport terminal, when in fact you needed a shuttle, that was mis-leading advertising. 3) we had to ask a few people where to find way2azores rental desk.

Cons: Car had over 100,000 km - which is maybe the norm in the Azores, but felt more like a used car than I’m used to for rentals.

Cons: We were forced to get an insurance because we didn't have a credit card covering the deposit, only a debit card that they don't accept. I realized later that I could had had my wife as a second driver and uss her credit card for the deposit (the card for the deposit and the driver name need to match). That's what they told us to do on the next island, but these people didn't recommend anything and were really pushy to purchase their insurance. My card had his own insurance which cover the same.

I always buy full coverage on rental cars to cover all costs. Your agent didn’t disclose that option. He told me the €35 coverage only covered gasoline deposit. And so I picked the €25 coverage that didn’t cover the tires. I’m very disappointed with your company for doing this scam. I will dispute this €190 charge. You should return €160 to me

Cons: The van that picks you up at the airport should have a "Way2Azores" sign on the side. There are several rental vans that pick up at the same location and it can be confusing on which one to go to.

Cons: I didn't like that I was asked to get another full rental coverage on top of the full rental coverage from DiscoverCars. Either DiscoverCars should rely on Way2Azores to offer rental insurance, or Way2Azores should not push for their insurance if there is already rental insurance on the reservation.

Cons: Due to change in ny flight schedule which I notified you I arrived 3 hours before the schedule time that was 10:00 am. The rental angency charged me 35 euro for the early pick up which didn’t exceed the days that the car was rented for. I checked on your website and the rate is the same for the original schedule and the revised schedule. I am expecting to get this charge back as a refund. Thank you B.T.W the car was returned 2 hours before schedule. Do I get a refund for this.

Cons: The car service was really good and comfortable. But they promise us a ride to the town centre after we returned the car and at the moment they said that it was impossible. So we had to take a taxi that we didn't count with. We meet with another couple later that day and they told us that you guys gave them a ride the same day as we returned the car at the same moment that we were there. That's why the score is not higher.

Cons: The lease agreement of the car was provided to me only after I returned the car, they offered more than once the full coverage insurance even though I said I had bought it through Discover cars, after two weeks I am still waiting on the deposit to be released from my credit card.

Once we were there we showed the papers, the confirmation of full insurance coverage by discovercars. They ask us for a credit card for a deposit as the insurance was external. I don’t have a credit card. They told us we can get a refund from DiscoverCars but we actually can’t after pick up.

Getting the vehicle should have been easy....a quick phone call to pick us up as they are not directly in the airport, however, the seem to go under numerous names so we missed the driver picking people up several times. The main company name would be Way2Azores. Drop off at airport after return good. Would recommend

Cons: Pick up needs to be improved. Missed a couple of vans taking us to site as the main name seems to be Rent2Azores, however, we booked under Discover cars and we were dropped off at Ace car rental. Needed to make a couple of calls to sort out. Would use again.

Cons: Rental process was VERY misleading on DiscoverCars! I specifically choose to have a rental pick up & and drop off at the airport - but this was not the case. We had to call the rental company - which we COULD NOT do with foreign phones. Finally, a stranger at the airport help us call and the rental company said they would come pick us up and drive us to our car. The whole issue took 2 hrs, so we missed check in at the hotel & any chance to eat dinner. I don't think Way2Azores is to blame.

Pros: Friendly and thorough staff and the car was very clean when received.

Cons: GPS unit was absolutely useless. It sent me on a route down one-way streets in the wrong direction and thought that all overpasses and bridges were on the same level as the main highway. Distance ETAs for exits were incorrect and it told me to turn on roads that did not exist.

Pros: Great team but better signage needed for location of pickup.

Cons: Have to pay for airport transport although it states they are at the airport, which they are not.
