Loved Sardinia. We travelled with 2 children and the people in Sardinia were extremely friendly to ourselves and they loved the children. They did have time to listen to our very basic and trying Italian. They loved the children having a try at Italian. Great people, beautiful island. Hope to be back someday

We spent our holiday in the South of Sardinia, and the main places we visited were obviously beaches (Villasimius, Kal’e Moru, Tuerredda, Solanas). Pleanty of choice of restaurants in Cagliari serving amazing Sardinian food!

We landed in Cagliari and travelled north to Porto Ottiolu. We used the car only to move around a radius of up to one hour around our accommodation but the trip from and to Cagliari was smooth.

Found it very difficult to escape from Cagliari Airport - thereafter difficult/interesting and very tricky, winding roads to negotiate, but with most beautiful scenery - great for the passenger, less so for the driver. Overall slow journeys from Cagliari to Arbatax and from Arbatax to Olbia...but quite fun...!!!

From Cagliari drive west to Carloforte on Isola di San Pietro and take the ferry for the final short hop. Later up to Alghero - continuing the Sardinian adventure. Not forgetting the great drive down to Bosa!!!

Having a car while staying on the Villasimius peninsula in Sardinia made the trip much more relaxed, given the hot weather. Even though there were many lovely beaches within 2-3 miles of our accommodation, being able to drive around was far preferable to walking.

Nearly all of the petrol stations are unmanned and require you to prepay for your fuel using cash or a card. The instructions are in Italian but most can be changed to English. Petrol stations in the towns are more likely to be staffed and its worth topping up there.
