Sicily driving schools, if they exist, do not do a good job - no turn signals are used, no lane markings or speed limits followed by the majority of drivers

The area we stayed in was very mountainous and rural. Very sleepy villages with only a scattering of cafe's and restaurants. Very relaxing time and meeting nice people.

Having a car made getting around much easier-although Sicilian drivers (and roads) took a bit of getting used too. Amazing beaches at Mondello and San Vito, best pizza ever at Canale Vecchi in Castellammare del Golfo and witnessed incredible power of nature on Mount Etna and at the Alcantara Gorge.

Palermo and surroundings are beautiful - a car is great to get to Cefalo, the various beaches nearby and the Zingaro peninsula. Driving in old town Palermo is not easy but the rest of the town is and plenty parking around.

We were based in Campofelice and drove everywhere, whether trying different beaches, restaurants or touring Corelone, Palermo, Mondello, Cefalu and so forth. Having a spacious car capable of climbing mountains was a real bonus.

We enjoyed travelling around Sicily. Using the autostrada saved us time and we were never driving for more than 2 hours from place to place. Warning: Sicily's towns are full of narrow streets and awkward turns. It is easy to damage a car so think about taking out the extra cover.

Pozzillo itself has a lovely sandy beach and rocky beach. Dolphin beach has a good beach club. Food is fresh and very reasonable priced. Drinks are too!
There are so many beaches to visit.
Scopello is beautiful- no sand
San Vito is massively over rated. It was horrible.
Terrasini is nice . Must book restaurants in advance as very busy .
Trapani is beautiful. The beaches are nice too. One really busy one - I didn’t like one much smaller much better.
Really good boat trip opportunities from Trapani. Well worth a go!!
