- Big Cypress National Preserve: Head west along I-75 to this slice of nature. The park offers hiking trails, boat tours, and some of the darkest skies on the east coast making it the perfect spot to stare at the stars. - Biscayne National Park: South of Miami, this national park protects the Bay of Biscayne which includes the northernmost of the Keys. There are a few things you can do there like exploring the Visitor Center or walking along the Jetty Trail, but as the park is 95% water, a boat is needed to explore it. There are tours that you can join or you can rent a canoe or kayak and explore on your own. Either way, the park is a treasure that shouldn’t be overlooked.

There are three terminals: North or Blue Terminal and its Concourse D; Central or Yellow Terminal that consists of Concourses E, F, and G; and South or Red Terminal that consists of Concourses H and J. All three terminals are connected by a moving walkway. It takes about 15 minutes to get from North Terminal to South Terminal.
Location
The airport is 8 miles (13 km) northwest of Downtown Miami and a similar distance west of Miami Beach. You can reach I-95, Downtown Miami, or Miami Beach either via State Road 112 or the Dolphin Expressway, but keep in mind that the latter is a toll road.
It’s a good idea to figure out your options for paying for tolls in your rental car in South Florida ahead of time. Many tolls can't be paid with cash or credit card. Some rental companies provide cars that have a SunPass transponder attached that can neither be removed nor turned off. Others provide one that can be taken off so that you can use your own if you have one.

You’ll find countless shopping and dining opportunities, banks, and ATMs, lounges, a lost and found office, a spa, a yoga room, and a chapel. Nearest gas station
There are some convenient gas stations for renters to fill up at prior to returning their rental cars, though one should be careful of price gouging. The two stations closest to the Rental Car Center (a Chevron and a Shell) both have prices significantly higher than other stations in the area. Just one or two blocks down the street, you will find Exxon and Texaco stations with much lower prices.
If renting a car from one of the companies located away from the airport, other stations may be more convenient. For example, most returning a rental car to Fox Easirent, or Clubs will find a Chevron station at the intersection of NW 27th Avenue and NW 17th Street may be better.

- 5. Fort Myers (155 miles / 249 km). Fort Myers, and its next-door neighbor Cape Coral, are two of the best places to enjoy Florida’s southwestern coast. Located about 2 hours and 30 minutes from Miami, the area is known for its coastline, but equally for nature preserves like the Butterfly Estates and Matanzas Pass Preserve.

How can I get toll device in Miami?
SunPass transponders are already installed in many rental cars. You will be charged on daily basis by the rental companies for these devices and this charge may or may not include unlimited tolls. You can opt-out of renting this device if you wish, but please note that in many cases this transponder is fixed to the windshield of the car and can not be turned off. Therefore, if you pass through any toll booths, even if paying in cash, you will be charged for the toll in addition to a hefty penalty by the rental company.
What insurances are included in the reservation?

We rented a car and drove up to Orlando and stayed in the area with the parks (Kissimi or something). From there we could get shuttles to the parks included in hotel price. We also drove into Miami Beach, the parking there was quite cheap (2$ pr hour in garage on south beach). Street parking was free in the evenings.

A tip for everyone who really wants to travel in the direction of Melbourne/Orlando : Take and pay for the Sunpass.
There are too many toll roads without a toll booth but a bill-by-plate instead.

1. Better car to pieck up customers - image is quite important
2. Emaployees should be very nice dressed and identified with company logo - That give confidence
3. Cars should be clean and ready to deliver - in the way to the company tell customer that your car is ready to use
4. Outside the company office shoul be better organized, more boutiful, better level, more a nice office, less a warehouse

Very satisfied, great value for the money!!! I will again rent from OptimoRent or JC car rental. Highly recommended.
When I booked for the first time, I was worried that how did I get a full-size SUV so cheap. The answer is that they give awesome deals, which we can't imagine. The car was in great condition, almost new. The agents are really nice and welcoming.
One more experience is that my wife forgot her iPhone in the car. These people are so nice that they took their time off and returned (by mail) that iPhone to us. I am very thankful for all their survices.

We had to leave car with keys in glove box on our return as it wasnt explained to us that your facility would be closed at the time we said we wolkd return the car..other than that the car was very good as was the member of staff who resolved our issues..Miami west westr palm beach are both areas that we would recommend visiting.Parking can be an issue and it is quite expensive when it can be found ($5.00 per hour or more.)But the sun shines plenty and people of florida are very accommodating.

I didn't saw an easier way to get around. We traveled long distances everyday, so the car was very useful but we had a lot of traffic with frustration. I would rather recommend to hire a motorcycle, but for long distances a car isn't a bad choice.

Driving on the opposite side of the road is tricky so ordering an automatic helped and staying close to the airport also helped for the first night.We were pleased to have one person driving and the other navigating as the traffic moves very fast and american drivers are not friendly to let you into a lane or go slow enough to work out where to go

Beautiful area (miami beach). Didn't realize they have a free trolley service that will take you anywhere on Miami beach. If you plan on staying on Miami beach and can find a resort with shuttle service from airport, there is no need to rent a car. However, we drove to the FL keys and Hollywood, FL so the car was needed for our trip.

It is quicker to choose a car rental company based in the airport rather than off site. Be careful if wanting to avoid toll roads out of the airport. The Expressway is not easily discernible from the i95 when being swept along by 3 lanes of traffic. Miami traffic is manic, as are the freeways feeding it. Once out of the city though, American drivers are considerate and aware of other road users.

Renting a car with the pic up location at the airport would be best. Even off site rental locations as it’s only 10-15 minutes away from the airport.
Miami is beautiful and I would recommend a drive through the Everglades if nature is your thing. Orlando is also good and having a car makes things convenient as you’re not wasting your time waiting for public transport (mind you the public transport is always on time).
One thing I would say, if the rental place offers an additional option of a sunpass for their toll roads then I would highly recommend it. It’s not a sales gimmick nor a scare tactic. Literally every road in Florida is a toll road.
