The lovely lady who was delivering the car to us was willing to bring us to our hotel, because we were a bit stranded (Shops for getting simcards for navigation were already closed). It was also getting dark and we were not used to driving on the opposite site of the road. The car (Mazda Demio, automatic) was in good condition and easy to drive with, even on the sometimes bumpy and dusty roads. We arranged with that the car was returned earlier at the hotel in Harare instead of at the airport late at night.

Driving in Zimbabwe is not for the faint hearted. Continual vigilance is required for varying road conditions and poor driving habits (eg sudden overtaking in the face of oncoming traffic). Traffic signals seldom operate, so care is needed traversing intersections.

We stayed at Aberfoyle Lodge in the Honde Valley, Leopard Rock Hotel in Bvumba, the Farmhouse in Chimanimani, The Tanganda Directors Lodge near Chipinge, Chilo Gorge Safari Lodge nearGonarezhou Game Reserve and York Lodge in Harare. All venues provided top quality accommodation and I would recommend them without hesitation. We also stayed at Clevers Resort near Great Zimbabwe, but I would definitely not recommend this accommodation

Nyanga & Vumba as are still beautiful as ever.
Country side was green and beautiful. Most roads are in bad shape but with caution and a reliable vehicle trip was safe and well enjoyed.
