Highly recommend visiting all the sights around Goreme and Uchisar in a rental, very easy to drive to Devrent Vadisi, Zelve open air museum, Fairy Chimneys and Ortahisar castle areas also. I booked a guided tour for the longer trip to Ihlara Valley and the sights in that area, but you can self drive there too.
