We drove to Albufeira in Algarve, which is astonishing place to visit in Portugal, we had so much flexibility renting a car, because we could go wherever we wanted to and this gave us the opportunity to visit different beaches.
We also booked in a area where people can camp, so having a car was essential! Everytime we needed to buy something or go to a different places the car was there for us! The aquaparks are amazing specially Zoomarine and Aquashow in my opinion!

Used the car to travel from Porto through Coimbra, Nazaré and Sintra before dropping off in Lisbon. Car was super useful for the commute but Portugal overall is not very car friendly in the cities, so we would just park up and leave it.

Drove north from Porto through the mountainous landscape and into Spain towards Santiago de Compostela without border fees which was great. But the one place that absolutely stood out was at the Portuguese-Spanish border in Valença - gorgeous stay for a night or two - a must see!
